James Bond boss says 'door open' to black 007 with Idris Elba frontrunner

I’ve given up hope that these idiots will ever understand that the phrase “it’s time a for minority to *****” is interpreted by just about everyone as meaning “we are going to give this job/position/role to someone solely because they aren’t white.” Elba would make a really good Bond. Why can’t they just let him stand on his own two feet? I don’t think anyone would have a problem with it. Why do they feel the need to trumpet “LOOK HOW BLACK HE IS” to the sky and awkwardly force race into the discussion like it’s still 1962?

F*ck this. If that happens, I'm done with the movie franchise and will stick to the books until they screw that up as well.
I really cannot comprehend why this is such a difficult concept. James Bond is a Scottish white man. If you want to make a black 00 agent, cool, I'm all for it. But don't shoehorn him into an established literary/cinematic character just because. You've already made Felix Leiter and Moneypenny black. That's enough.
James Bond is not a code name. There is a Bond family crest. He has an ancestral home. 007 is a code name. Want to make a black 007? That's fine. Just don't pretend he's James Bond. He can be a different character with that designation. That simply means James Bond either retired or died.

Idris Elba will be way too old by the time it's his time to shine. He's already 46 years old and Bond 25 isn't releasing until the end of next year. By the time Bond 26 is released in 2022, he'll be 50.
Sean Connery was 31 when he was cast, George Lazenby was 29, Timothy Dalton was 40, Pierce Brosnan was 41, and Daniel Craig was 37. Roger Moore was the oldest of the Bond actors when he was cast at the age of 45.

I'm not as angry about it as you are, but I agree in concept.
I don't care about what the literary character is in terms of race, but I'd kinda like to see them kill off the current Bond, introduce Elba as 0069 or whatever the hell you want to call him, and continue the franchise with a new character taking over the 007 code.
Honestly, the Kingsman series has managed this pretty well in only two movies. When one agent with a code name dies, they replace him with another person taking over that name.
Elba is awesome and I'd love to see him in the series, but not because he's black. Because he's a badass presence on screen.

If Antoine Fuqua wants to make a spy movie with Idris Elba, then just make your own character. Why do this? Whats the point aside from stupid social typecasting?
