I never argued that nor do I believe that. Plus there are no actual photos or descriptions of Noah or Moses that we can draw from. So I really don't mind if they cast minority actors to play those roles.
Bond on the other hand, while a fictional character, has a detailed character description and biography. Any casting of a minority actor to portray him is nothing but stunt casting.

They don't and very few people on here believe they do. However, if you cast Idris Elba as Bond, they should drop the "As Ian Fleming's James Bond 007" from the opening titles. Because at that point it is no longer Fleming's Bond. He's Cracked.com's Bond due to the fact that the name "James Bond" becomes just a title handed off from one agent to the next.

I think it's really weird to say there should be less need to be historically accurate with Noah or Moses than "historically" accurate with James Bond.
The nature of fictional characters is that they are more easily manipulated to fit the need of the medium. There were major character shifts in Nolan's Batman seried, and for the better.
Finally, I don't see race in the same way. If I had to rank essential character traits of James Bond, race is far down the list. That's why I'd like Elba. He nails the main traits I think drive the character and lend themselves to creating an interesting story.

Well, for one, there is still debate on what people from those regions in the time of Noah and Moses actually looked like.

He's also a few years away from being a senior citizen. By the time his first Bond film is released, he will be 50 years old. Daniel Craig is about to film his fifth Bond film and he just turned 50.

I agree with you it's how the character was written. You have to give up some traits in movie casting. You say he's Scottish, but don't mind the actors with British accents.
Bond doesn't need to be black, but Elba would be great in the role. I don't think he should lose a role he could kill because of race.
Age doesn't bother me. It's easy to manipulate how old someone looks and acts in movies and Elba can easily look younger than his age.

I was born in Alabama and yet don't have a southern accent. I'm sure it's possible to have been born in Scotland and educated in England (as Bond was) and not have a Scottish accent.

Idris Elba is a fantastic actor but I would have to say no to James Bond UNLESS...they are able to address the 50+ years as to why Commander Bond is not an old man or dead...Roger more did die of old age...If they can explain it with some technological ability to transfer the memories and personality of an aging 00 agent into another and the title of James Bond is transferred it could be bought, but it is thin.
I love movies, but I also like to buy into the illusion for a few hours to enjoy the ride. I wouldn't want a white dude playing "Shaft", or "Mister Tibbs" or a white chick playing Guinan on Star Trek TNG (Whoopi Goldberg) because of the origin of the role and the established mythology just to name a few. Could you see an all-white cast in "A Soldiers Story" or "The Tuskeegee Airmen"?
I could see Idris Elba playing another 00 agent like Sean Bean did, or the new "M" or "Q" are even better the villain.
Inclusion for the sake of inclusion sucks. It is the differences that makes life's ride more interesting rather than making everything for everyone all of the time.
