This is like the white dude's version of Chapelle Show. Definitely needs full episodes and a season. Would watch
A description from one of the trailers

T. Ocellus

"The tentacles carry extraordinary strength and are built to climb into and dislodge the eyes of other living organisms.

Once replaced in the eye socket, T. Ocellus takes over the ocular pathways to the brain, overriding the neuro-transmissions throughout the body.

More study needed to gauge inherent intelligence, though T. Ocellus has shown remarkable problem-solving skills at a near-human measure."

BW's fall mentally and physically to Bane and then the Pit, and his subsequent rise from the Pit always gets me motivated

Make the climb.
I remember this came out around the same time that all of us were moving into the dorms at LSU freshman year. Was one of the first times we all did something together and was the start of all of us in Mcvoy becoming really good friends from then on out. I hadn't laughed so hard at a movie ever up until we saw that. And since then, this movie and the Hangover are the two defining theater experiences where I legit nearly passed out from hilarity.

Definitely felt like the magnum opus of comedy from Apatow's crew, and objectively one of the best comedies ever, especially to all of us just graduating HS. The genre overall was goat status during that 2004-2012ish period IMO

EDIT: Superbad was August 2007, so I definitely misremembered the experience as it was actually Talladega Nights as it released in August 2006. Makes sense, because for that whole month before classes started everybody was saying "SHAKE N' BAKE!" during any social interaction
Just chiming in. This series is easily in my top 3. It's there alongside GOT's first 4 seasons. Every single season finale is epic, especially S02E10(best episode of the series IMO followed closely by S03E10).

Captain Flynn is one of the most nuanced, well written characters in television. And by the end of the series, John Silver is right there with him.

Just stick through season 1 until the finale. This show then becomes an absolute hell on wheels in the golden age of sail. Enjoy!

This looks AWESOME

Look up PairVPN in the App Store, and also download the program to install on windows. Their website has instructions for setting it up, but basically you get unlimited hotspot data for use over a local network by tethering your phone to the PC. I use it everyday because the 5G here gets 300-500 mbps on my iPhone lol

Villenueve wants to film Dune Messiah to finish out Dune as a trilogy, but I don't think he necessarily wants to do it immediately after Dune PII (depending on how well part II does, the studios may not allow him to wait around very long though).

More than likely, it's looking like he will do Cleopatra(rumors of using Zendaya?) next, and/or Authur C Clarke's Rendezvous with Rama. Also read where he's the #1 desired director to helm the next Bond movie. Honestly would love to see him do Bond. He could do the franchise justice by decucking Bond and repairing the damage from the woke over the last few years
Unless society as a whole does a massive paradigm shift in the way we think of ourselves, our past, present, and future the best we can likely hope is that AGI just lets us come along for the ride. Currently it appears we have about 4-5 more generations of optimum opportunity. I do not think creating AGI is inherently bad for us, but if we do not tailor it specifically for our needs so that we might preserve what makes us human, there's potential run-ins.

If society ultimately decides to bootstrap for an AI civ, and homo sapiens go the way of neanderthals, I trust that its a logical step, but we need to go carefully with AGI until we determine how best to move forward. Space is extremely hard on biology. I think we are served best as a species if AGI is able to figure out the space problem long before we write ourselves out of the story, or we Bulterian Jihad the AGI(both options bad) Either way, we will likely know in just a few more years where our likely trajectory is heading. I hope for physics that allow humanity other places to move to. It will be interesting to see where the ball lands between AGI/humanity and the tradeoffs. Right now, its calling for extreme obesity and lack of critical thinking skills in humans, but I suppose that's okay if the AGI is making up for our losses
It will likely be nothing like any of the first three seasons of TD.. because Pizzolatto is not even attached to the series anymore. For that reason I have about a 95% feeling this will be wokebroke before the end of the season

Even if the writers have the skill to emulate NP's style, it would be far-fetched they could pull off anything close to the vibe that S01 and S03 gave us. And if the writers turn out to be more focused on The Message, well then..
Dude must have been hauling arse. I have heard of deer quite literally exploding from enough impact force of a vehicle, with limbs and extensions flying everywhere, but they don't wear clothing. You know there had to be some energy exchange if the impact completely detached his unit from the assembly, and his clothing
Cut meat at WD on Burbank for a few years when I was in school. One of the older guys that cut with me said he was an operator for about 20 years, long enough to get his daughter grown and paid off all his debts, then said frick it and left the refinery to start cuttin’ meat. Said it was the best career move he ever made. He certainly wasn’t the smartest baw but maybe ignorance is bliss.

Not hard to learn. Most red blooded males from the south have skinned deer or fish in their life, so it’s not much different than that. Once you get the feel for how easily a good blade can carve up biology, the only thing left is learning to show some nuance with all of your different cuts

I know my roommate and me ate good while I was cutting there.. eating filets at the best, or only ribeyes at the worst, damn near every day. And I know it feels good as hell in a cold meat market 80% of the year in Louisiana. Can’t beat that honestly, I loved it
This crossed my mind when I was watching it as well. But there's literally no argument because then I thought back to Jon Snow in the BotB. Dude didn't even take a single arrow the entire battle

re: Cancel Culture Origin

Always felt like there's some kind of devolution that was going on through the years from the time of the hipsters, to SJW's, then to cancel culture..

It's in there somewhere, in that postmod-ish, subverting, mind virus that has grown over recent years. Trump really did a number on said group(TDS) by creating a singular external nemesis, and coupled with social media, this allowed it to spread more rapidly and effectively, culminating in the MeToo/Woke era of last 2-3 years.

So, say Trump never made it to office, I think we still see a natural transition of this culture but over a more extended time period. shite ideas will still play out at some point but because of Trump, it's like he synchronized this process
S4 is definitely quality Westworld again. I was always worried after S02 that it would continue a downward spiral with the whole Woke movement starting to spread shite into entertainment IP's around the time of S03. It's odd, that the woke never got to WW too much, it was just more of Lisa and Jonah not writing to their potential. I think they were pragmatic enough though to see their mistakes and fix them with this season and I'm glad
I went into chemE for this very reason. Why limit myself to a specific discipline like petroleum engineering when chemical engineering allows you to work in petro industry as well as basically every other heavy industry. I found there wasn't much difference curriculum-wise between petroleum and chemical until senior-level classes in undergrad but still very much in the realm of things a chemical engineer could learn on the job if needed.

Had nothing to do with the current woke climate. It was just common sense thinking not to allow oneself to be restricted to such a specific area.
A lot about this film should give you the idea that it would be great.. up until The Message rears its ugly little head in the trailer, then the awesomeness quickly begins to leave the room. The niece story definitely throws up a Woke flag.

I was hoping TG Maverick would finally be the start of a journey back toward normalcy in movies again, and that the Woke had finally ran its course, but that was just an outlier. I think common sense is in the pipeline at this point, though(hopefully, anyway). Just curious when it will start being a normal, natural occurrence again.

Movie seems very similar to Fargo S4, and both have Chris Rock
I do like Robbie as a brunette
OB was awesome up until about 2015, at that point it felt like night and day difference from the year before in terms of how crowded it was. We had been staying at Phoenix7 since I was a child, but it wasn't worth the clusterfrick at that point.

All those Phoenix's have the same layout around the pool area. Had this happened during midday she would have likely landed on a person or kid out by the pool

Beavis & Butt-Head Do the Universe

Just released on Paramount+ and the webz today.

Hilarious. Another Judge classic IMO. Kind of felt like some of Idiocracy thrown in the plot as well. Still thinking it over, but has some greats already, especially the 2022 Gender/Woke Studies scene
My dad recorded almost all of the episodes on VHS back in the 90s when they would have marathons on MTV and I really wish I could find the tapes and move them over to digital for the very reason of capturing all the music videos and commercials
Install the vpn extension called Luna if you have an iPhone. Not an app and takes about 30 seconds to install. Not sure if it works for android but you can check. I got it about two weeks ago and I haven’t had a single ad on YouTube since
Meteor cause of loud boom in South Mississippi

“ NASA believes the meteor was about a foot in diameter with a weight of 90 pounds. Officials said the meteor ran parallel to the Mississippi River at a speed of 55,000 miles per hour. The meteor broke into pieces as it descended into Earth’s atmosphere”
That’s a strange angle of approach for a rocket stage, it would have been making an approach against the rotation of the earth if it was traveling westward

The explosion could have been an air burst from a meteor similar to the 2013 Russian meteor, more people would have heard it in that case. It obviously wasn’t very large or in fact bursted into oblivion because surely there would have been major reports by now

Was it making course corrections by any chance?
Imogen had a book on quantum mechanics in her tent when he was snuffing around, and the other book I couldn’t tell from the writing, but it looked like possibly Greek so maybe about Kronos/time. So that would at least frame the hole and how it possibly works. It would be interesting to see what quantum interpretation they go with as each one could create vastly different plots(many-worlds, Copenhagen, etc) but perhaps they don’t go that route at all lol.

It definitely reminded me of Dark in a lot of ways so I’m thinking Brolin is from the past due to the picture and his wife’s story of how they met and Imogen is from the future(possibly even an older version of the granddaughter). Where did the daughter disappear to? I don’t think they said when the hole appeared in the first place but surely it wasn’t always there as they would have came upon it sooner working cattle in the present day

I had the exact same kind of concussion in high school during football practice as well. Met full back at the line as LB, and just fell backwards funny as we went down from his momentum and I slammed the back of my head on the ground. I have zero memory of the next two hours of practice and when I came to I didn’t know my name, where I was, or even how to drive home afterwards. Took me nearly a day to remember everything. I asked my friends what I did during the blackout, and they said I took myself out of play and took a knee on sideline, then would walk up to one of my buddies and tell him exactly, “damn man, I am so out of it.” Every ten minutes or so. When he told me that he knew, that I had came up and told him this 8 times already, it was what finally snapped me out of it. I remember what he told me freaked me out so much, I think that is what snapped me out.

It was probably the strangest thing that’s ever happened to me. I do remember I was having a lucid dream during all of this, but zero recollection of physical reality. It’s weird because I can still remember that dream moment for moment as it was a really happy peaceful dream, but zero from those two hours post-concussion. Of course, being the idiot that I am I never went to doctor about it
Season 2 started on HBOMax today. The first two episodes are up for anyone interested!

In fairness, I think this book could easily take up a season of ten hours on HBO if DV or someone else talented enough to do it justice went that route. That’s literally how much there could be to cover from just the first book. Obviously, a three hour movie is gonna have to leave many good things out, and we are even arguing over things being left out in DV’s version, which will end up being about six hours after two movies. I don’t think it should factor in a rating for what is otherwise a great film. It’s just how it is when you only have so film time compared to the book.

Also, a couple of interviews after it released(Jason Momoa I think) mentioned that DV had probably six or seven hours of filmed footage, so we didn’t even get to see 3 or 4 hours of stuff he filmed. Momoa said there was a really awesome scene that didn’t make it that was originally gonna start the film off with a bang, when Duncan first goes to arrakis and he does some kind of high altitude jump from close to orbit to land and immerse himself into the fremen(I think the reasoning was that he couldn’t travel and land traditionally because the harkonnens hadn’t fully left yet) but mostly it was just supposed to be an exhilarating scene to start the movie.

I’m hoping when it’s all said and done that maybe we will get an ultimate directors cut because there’s definitely hours of unseen, finished footage. If anything, DV had such an impact on this universe and how he envisioned things like the ornithopter, shield tech, spacecraft, and the great Houses that anyone that comes after him will likely keep his style in place in building a singular universe. It’s not unlike how the original Star Wars was so impactful even to this day
A person could have whatever honorable intentions upon crossing the event horizon, but to the rest of the universe it would not matter what happens because they are literally no longer part of our universe. From their perspective, they could just as easily say they exist in a totally new universe. It’s more than just saying light cannot escape, it’s really that information cannot cross the barrier.

Black holes do evaporate, though, so there must be some information/energy exchanging right? Yes, but the information/light is completely scrambled and so contains no information. Maybe Alice or Bob(our observer) could learn some crazy stuff after crossing the horizon, but it would be a completely subjective experience. The knowledge would perish with them.

Someone mentioned an observer who crosses the horizon experiencing death for an eternity, but actually they would literally live until the death of the universe as time speeds up for the rest of the universe. Subjectively, who knows how long one would experience time before “dying” inside the horizon.

Leonard Susskind has some top notch shite on YouTube from a bunch of his lectures on all of this stuff, definitely worth checking out
