I agree that unchecked AI is a problem but they’re just doing this as a means to control tech companies.
They’re fine if Twitter has to shutdown in CA if it means the right doesn’t get to share news in their state that they don’t like.

Well one is a drawn cartoon that no reasonable person would mistake for being real, the other is virtually indistinguishable from the real person. So not exactly apples to apples.
I don't see why this should just apply to politics though. It seems like one of the myriad of issues we'll have to grapple with when dealing with AI. Should one be able to create videos of realistic likenesses of anyone? Or maybe just public figures? I dunno the answer but it'll be something we have to deal with eventually

Giving analysis that doesn't agree with the hive mind isn't giving subjective stances, no matter how much MAGA melts about it.
Just because your chosen echo chamber content creators are often misleading and telling you incorrect things doesn't mean telling you what reality is involves some subjective stance on the issue presented. It's a big problem with MAGA NPCs suffering from partisan/echo chamber brain rot.

Classic defamation/slander law has centered around words that look real, now we have pictures and video that look real.
But even defamation law doesn't censor, it punishes after the fact.
You can still publish and take the risk.
