Favorite Rush MomentsPosted by mtntiger

One of the reasons I got hooked on Rush was his sense of humor.
In his later years, he abandoned parodies, but some of them were pure genius:
"Banking Queen" about Barney Frank was insanely funny, but, for me, "Weemsco Tuna" about dolphin-free tuna was hysterical.
"Weemsco Tuna - now there's even more delicious dolphin taste for you to love."
Great stuff. Gonna miss Ole Rush.

Just realized, I still have ALL of those old Paul Shanklin songs on my PC! I want to say that guy started out doing them as a lark and sending them in and eventually was able to sell CD's because of Rush's show.
Found this one on Youtbe...as usual, it's still fitting today!

I sent him an email one time when he was going to a break and struggling to come up with an analogy. He was also short on time. When he came back from the break, he actually used my content on air, but added his own flair. At least, that’s what I’d like to think.
I felt like a part of his show prep. It was kinda cool.

I have one and I think it may be my first time I had heard or had seen Rush. He used to have show on Fox back in the 90s. Rush played some footage a news station caught of Clinton he-hawing it up at the funeral of Ron Brown. Clinton was laughing it up until he notices the camera was on him and then he went straight into fake tears. I realized then I had better start paying attention more closely to our elected officials. Wasn’t too much longer after thata the Lewinsky scandal blew up. Was hilarious and eye opening.
Found the Rush segment.

"For those of you in Rio Linda..."
Going back to the '90s, his "Environmental Report", given with the sound of chainsaws and crashing trees in the background...

The "In a Yugo" Paul Shanklin video is one of the best.

Spatula City!
The filler commercials for the local stations were money. The tuna one was the best.

The politically correct football picks were awesome..
"Hhhhmmm.. Chiefs vs Redskins. This one's a doozy!"

In an interview on WWL David Tyree told Rush that he was gay... Rush was basically like "What does that have to do with anything? You are either good at your job or you are not...
David Tyree was shocked that Rush would not judge him based on his sexual preference.
The interview was in the early 90's when WWL started carrying Rush on tape delay.

I explained that line to my 13 year old son a few weeks ago who happened to be in my vehicle when Rush was on! Had to tell him that before he went national he had a radio show in Southern California and there was a town near by that seemed to be filled with idiots, so he jokingly started saying, "For those of you in Rio Linda" essentially meaning, "For you idiots out there." Did it up until the end continuing that tradition.
The kid laughed.

After that Fluke girl testified that the college should pay for her contraception, Rush got in trouble of saying she was a slut and having so much sex she could couldn’t afford her own contraception and wanted “you” to pay for it.
Funny as shite.
