I fill my tank every 8-10 days and 95% of the miles I drive are to and from work (when I go somewhere it is usually on the way home from work which doesn’t add to many miles).
I make much more at work than the tank of gas so 95% of my gas usage is fixed and even at $10 a gallon I would still buy the gas.
Where I would cut back is the 5% of pleasure driving like going to the two Auburn football games per year or driving 200 miles on a Saturday to take my daughter to lunch (something I only do occasionally).
So, yes there would be a small cut back if gas were to double but not a large one.
Gas for most people is a necessity so where they cut back is entertainment and extra spending like going to football games, movies and out to eat. But when 60% of Americans cut back on the extra, fun spending it does hurt the economy.
And like what someone said before me Americans are getting by hit from all sides these days housing, car prices, gas, insurance etc…. It all adds up.

Why's it wild? Trump ran on $2 a gallon gasoline and although it wasn't there back in Jan/Feb, its was a lot closer to the $2 mark with it now only 75 cents from the $5 mark at this point.
Trump's domestic policies showed what was possible, he then chose to blow the whole thing up and delve into a useless war in Iran.
And like others have said, just because your slightly better than a comatosed individual isn't something to celebrate.

People are just doing the "tough guy" routine either because they're emotionally invested, lack intelligence, or are lying because they don't want to fall into the "if I criticize Trump, they'll think I'm a liberal and I'm scared of that so I'll act tough" meme.

frick anybody who might have some aspect of their life negatively impacted by Trump. If we ignore their issues we can still pretend he's perfect.
I'm retired and gas isn't a big enough part of my budget to matter, but damn. I have kids, I know other people who live paycheck to paycheck. I guess I shouldn't give a shite because I've got mine.

That's true, but Trump isn't only slightly better than Biden so that doesn't work.
And I am consistent. I consider any gas prices over $2 a gallon to be too high. That doesn't mean I'm going to pretend Trump is somehow ruining the economy with gas prices. That is simply false.
