I like to buy more gas when it's gets expensive. It helps my brothers out in the oil industry.

You worry about spending extra on fuel, which nobody is exactly liking, but the mentioned that you cutting back driving and making shorter trips while cutting back going out. People seem to have no problem with going out and spending a bunch of money on overpriced restaurants paying 75-100 a steak or spending 200-250 on a meal for 2. I’m not knocking the going out part so much as the comparison of doing that a bitch about fuel.. I would think that your electric bill has risen in comparison but did you cut back on that usage? Maybe try using the ac for the weekend and only a short time during the week with it

You do realize that easily over 50% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck right? So even a small increase impacts them. And a huge amount of Americans couldn't even afford an emergency $1,000 bill. It's different than 2008. 2008 was terrible but it was largely only gas prices that were impacted. The last couple of years, especially this year, has been worse, as everyone is getting hit from all angles. It's not just gas anymore or consumer discretionary spending. Groceries are insanely higher than 2008. Insurance is insanely higher. Rents have become downright unaffordable in even mediocre complexes. Taxes and Utility bills have gone up. We're talking about the essentials here. It's different now when people are getting hit from every direction.

I’m glad we pay less than Europe. But they are glad they pay less for other things.
But we pay for their defense.
We get tariffed.
I don’t mind beating them on gas price and the recent price delta is still concerning.

I went down to my ranch for the dove opener and paid around $6.00 a gallon for diesel and it’s a 4.5 hr drive for me. Running to town and running back and forth between my brothers ranch, town and back to our ranch I probably went though close to two tanks of diesel.
Probably cost me $80 to $90 to make that drive in my Tesla paying at super chargers and about $280 to $300 in diesel.

You should look up "straw man fallacy".
Adjusted for inflation, today's prices are certainly not low, but are only 5% above the long-term average. Not nearly as high as relatively recent peaks in 2022, 2012 and 2008.
Stop consuming media that only cares about inflation and gas prices when a President of a certain party is in the White House.
