She began her coaching career in America from 2002 -2010.

Coached Long Island, Iona and the Chicago women's pro team before coaching the Chelsea women's team from 2012 to this year.

Very confusing...but I understand now. I didn't realize the USWNT coach was British. Thanks to those that responded to my question.

She’s a Brit whose playing career was cut short by injury when she was a teenager. I believe her coaching career started after that in the US until she went back to coach Chelsea’s women’s team in the UK. She left that job last year to coach the USWNT.
