re: Possible southern ice storm - Christmas Eve - December 26th timeframe - RidiculousHype
The previous GFS run had a crippling ice storm for most of Louisiana, lasting 48 hours or so. This one is showing a cold rain. FWIW it's showing temps up high way too warm for snow, at this point. ...
I'm still pissed at WBRZ. Note the update on page one. The snow definitely did NOT stick on the roads!
It really is amazing. This is their profession. Anyone could see what the computer models were showing, and yet they totally dismissed the possibility. Just remember for nex...

Weather models > local TV weather guys - RidiculousHype
Computer models were consistently showing 2-4" in BR area. Some of the local weather guys were borderline belligerent yesterday and the day before about "very little snow and no accumulation". Let's see if they learn from this and trust the NAM and other models next time around....

re: Winter thread: 3.5" officially in BR on the 8th day of meteorological winter!! - RidiculousHype
There's an interesting divergence occurring between the models and the official outlets. GFS, Euro, Canadian, and NAM are in agreement that BR will get 2-3 inches. The NWS and the local affiliates are saying wintry mix but no accumulations. We won't know until we wake up who was right....

Southeastern LA Univ. was 34-35 degrees when this happened in 2008. There absolutely can be impacts on the roads. ...
