That's what I thought.

Meanwhile, dozens of schools (including SEC members) are playing with, or have played, ineligible players only because a judge told them they could. Just curious, do they get punished too?

Back when we were kids, nobody knew the SEC commissioner’s name. It would be a gentle older guy you’d see at a random
bowl game every couple years wearing an SEC logo blazer.

Fast forward to today, and Sankey is out there acting like a power hungry politician. Why does this guy think he’s so important?

Last I checked, the Big 10 has won the last 3 football championships so maybe it’s time for a new approach. Whatever he thinks he’s doing is not effective. Maybe it’s time to find someone who is there to serve the schools rather than impose his will on them.

The Tennessee to USC move falls under this category, but with LSU being permanent opponents of Ole Miss, he kind of did the opposite this time around. The UCLA, Penn St., and Michigan jobs were open so he had plenty of opportunity to get far away from the SEC if he wanted.

Get used to it.. think of the SEC as the NFL now. Most games will come down to the last possession, talent is more equal, road games are hard, etc.

The days of trotting our loaded 2-deep up to Starkville and winning 45-0 are long gone..

I feel like SEC expansion has hurt Auburn some. Like they get lost in the shuffle now, and Texas has become the true challenger to Bama and UGA that Auburn used to be?

I've been watching him from afar.

Baylor is a hard place to win historically, despite plenty of HS talent in TX. It's a private school and doesn't have what UT, A&M, OU, or even TTU has in terms of financial backing.

That said, I've been surprised at how poorly his defenses have done lately (57th, 113th, 87th, 88th nationally from 2022-2025). Assuming even average talent, you'd think Dave would scheme his way to top 50 or so defenses just about every year.

They're improved this year (26th). He gave up defensive playcalling and they spent heavier in the portal. The transfers from KSU and the DC also from KSU are legit.

Lagway can make some insane throws but he will lose them some games he shouldn't because he's so inconsistent. He has some impressive WRs to throw to, so that helps.

Yeah, I don't blame you at all - everyone knew the rules going in. I don't think ESPN can do a true 1400 IP hard cap, so the final day (in theory) is unlimited innings. The problem it can create is where you have multiple teams at 1399 going into Sunday, and then everyone splurges on 30 innings and the whole season comes down to a bunch of bottom-end SP's.. Half of which are already mentally in Cancun and the other half getting pulled early to get ready for MLB playoffs.

It's just such a fickle day on the MLB calendar and it has way too much sway on the final standings imo..
