Anybody got any inside scoop or updates?

All internationals will be on campus by 24. Ruzic, Dessert, Niang, Santos are all good. Puts the roster at 10 with Luis not 100% but still most likely good plus a few 5th year guys potentially.

Doha - DFW. Long arse flight

I have flown this exact route in Q Suites. INCREDIBLE
quote:

none of the internationals have been cleared

Except they have all been cleared like I have said multiple times. The roster is at 9/10 guys right now. Do not listen to this guy people
Yes it’s legit. And Louis and Niang can help with ball handling.

What's the current status of this team? Who do we KNOW is in, KNOW is out, and who are we still waiting on? Just cliff notes, please.

Guards: Ugo, Bashir, Nunez, TBD
Wings: Luis (70/30 he’s eligible) Niang, Dioubate, TBD
Bigs: Santos, Dessert, Ruzic, TBD

American portal players - In RJ Luis - Out, will need to win in court International players - Waiting on NCAA clearance Beyond that, it's all speculation and tea leaves.

This is wrong. Everyone should be good to go, Luis is still not 100% certain but is probable, he’s on campus already. All the international guys will be here within the next 30 days.
Tough when you only have about 2 months to actually recruit him. Crazy the amount of legacies LSU has missed on bc of timing

Missing Ruzic right?

Yes my bad, will edit to fix
5/27 roster update:

I have been told we are not done adding contributors for next year (don't have a name). Im assuming Ryan Hampton is the last piece but I haven't told about it specifically.

Don't have any updates on eligibility other than the staff feels good about everyone. Will also still probably add a couple developmental/low cost guys So the roster will look like this:

Guards: Madar, Ugo, Bashir, TBD, Nunez
Wings: Luis, Niang, Dioubate, TBD
Bigs: Santos, Dessert, Ruzic, TBD
I said this in the recruiting thread btw

FYI no need to worry about that NCAA guidance from today. It will be impossible to restrict for anyone trying to play next season. It would affect too many teams and too many players the NCAA doesn’t have enough lawyers for how many lawsuits would be filed. However this will be the last season of internationals over 23. Wade knew this hence his heavy emphasis on internationals this year. If the NCAA wanted to have this in effect for next year they would have had to do it before April.

I don’t think it’s half a rule. Players are held to the rule from the moment of its inception. Meaning anyone who exhausted their 4 years of eligibility prior to the rule being put in place no longer has any eligibility. Anyone who currently violates the rules for the upcoming season is also ineligible.

I obviously don’t like this interpretation but it seems to me that this is what they plan to do.

That will NEVER work. Wade will either get his international players or he will get 5 for 5 guys who were seniors last year.

Hopefully the team will be so egregious they will have to change the rules

They already are changing the rules (5 for 5). This will be the last year you can sign internationals over 23. This is the main reason for the international focus. 5 for 5 won't be retroactive so he is taking advantage.

Do they have is eligibility figured out? He seems like a case that would get shut down.

I have not asked but I assume so. He has been a silent commit for a while now so now that it is going public it leads me to believe they got it figured out
RJ Luis is public now. He was the Boot Up tweet from a few weeks back. All that is left is Graves and possibly another guard plus end of bench guys.

Any flexibility to extend your stay in Kyoto/Osaka?

Possibly but I doubt we will want to. Will be travelling with an infant. Which location would you consider better to base?
Following along as will do 4 nights Tokyo, 3 nights Osaka/Kyoto, and 3 nights Singapore next April.
Mainly just Hampton. May take a developmental guy or 2 that Im unaware of

May 15 roster update: Guards: Ugo Bashir Madar (not done yet but likely) TBD (staff is still working on Montero but will be a really tough pull) Wings/Bigs Niang (done deal) Dessert (done deal) Mo Dioubate Santos RJ Louis (done deal but gotta clear up eligibility) Graves (50/50 draft or LSU rn) If all pieces fall into place thats 10 guys. But Montero is trending staying so wouldn’t get hopes up there

Forgot to mention Ryan Hampton. Hampton reclassifying will mainly depend on what happens with Graves and Montero

Any insight as to how Luis could be eligible without court battles? That would be incredible if Wade can pull it off.

I honestly don’t know, I didn’t really ask bc it seemed complicated
