All you need to know about nutritionists is hospital food. Locally in BR , from a current patient and previous patients, OLOL is the worst of the bunch. I few years ago I was in Ochsner Hospital on O'Neal for a week, I was immobilized, couldn't burn a calorie if I wanted, I lost 10 lbs,. That was with my wife smuggling in a Popeye's chicken sandwich.

I have not been in BRG, I don't know if they are better. But I've been hospitalized in different places, they are all pretty bad, I don't expect gourmet treats, I'd settle for school cafeteria quality. The funny thing is that if you go eat in the cafeteria downstairs, it's not bad.

I'm a foodie, a decent mel improves my morale greatly, I look forward to eating, then my soul is crushed by what on the tray.

Sorry for the old man rant.

I doubt nutritionists have much to do with hospital food. The bean counters drive every aspect of a hospital’s practices.

They try to match the food to the level of care they’re providing.

I can only guess what had you in the hospital for a week.

The insurance companies set the menu.

Probably just the lack of salt more than anything.

One hospital in my area has a "real chef" managing things. Best hospital food I've had, including what visitors can eat in the cafeteria.

Because, what are you going to do, get up and walk out? It’s the same with airplane food.

I don't know if this is accurate, but I believe it!

I've spent a lot of time with family members at the Heart Hospital in Lafayette and Woman's Hospital in Baton Rouge and it absolutely amazed me seeing the amount of non-healthy foods that were served and no healthy options aside from a poached egg and fruit. There's absolutely nothing organic either, who needs that in a hospital?

It's amusing they don't use much seasoning because they claim "that's not healthy".

Guess at pushing 74 I'm not old enough to find that slop good. I recently spent 3 days in the hospital in N.O. and what I got 3 times a day had NO taste other than awful.

They obviously don't season anything they cook, only supply a single pepper packet, no real sugar----only substitutes and absolutely NO salt.

I could not get down half of what they gave me at any time, if that.

I know some folks have diet restrictions, but I also know that doesn't apply to EVERY patient in the facility.

If they could, those bean counters would try to add people/soylent green to the menu if it makes them a few cents.

Food services contracts go to the lowest bidder (who probably uses sawdust as a base for all of the food)

When profits are the main focus of a service provider, the quality of service will always suffer.

Quite the opposite...Hospital dietitians have a heavy hand on food served to patients as many have diet restrictions be it a Cardiac diet, diabetes, failure to thrive, low sodium, etc.
