Institutional food is always bad. The same reason why school food and army food is bad.
The United States Navy disagrees. We went slumming at the enlisted mess every Sunday on purpose.

The food at Willis-Knighton in Shreveport was was inedible, my appetite was shot after emergency heart surgery and being in a medically induced coma for 10 days but I couldn't stomach anything from the hospital aside from the "baked" (really steamed) potato. The food at the Texas Heart Hospital in Plano was excellent though, I'd go back just for the taco salad bar.

A lot of people in our town go eat breakfast and lunch at the hospital cafeteria. The food is good.

Maybe we can get TulaneLSU and mother to go on a trip, and rate the top 25 hospital foods in South Louisiana?

absolutely amazed me seeing the amount of non-healthy foods that were served and no healthy options aside from a poached egg and fruit. There's absolutely nothing organic either, who needs that in a hospital?
The gym in town here has a restaurant in it called elite eats that seems like it would be healthy food for those who want to lose weight or build muscle.
They sell burgers, fried chicken, and wings mostly.

At least blame the right people, PE bro.

Restaurants have to please the customer.
, otherwise they won’t be in business very long. Hospital kitchens don’t have that problem.

Good breakfast and burgers.
I heard they do holiday catering where you can pre-order trays of food to bring home and serve (like picadilly)

They're cooking for a shite ton of people all with different taste palates. They have to cater to people with different sensitivities to saltiness or spiciness, so they have err on the side of blandness. You can always add more salt or spice, but you can't remove it.

I have some elderly in-laws that have spent significant time in hospitals over the past year.
The simple answer is SALT, or lack thereof.
Pretty much everything normal people eat is oversalted, so you really notice it when the salt is withheld.

Soylent Green....Soylent Green.

Probably just the lack of salt more than anything.
Yeah

I’ve found the cafeterias in some hospitals aren’t bad at all. Reasonably priced too. I’d go down there and see a lot of the hospital staff eating. Cheeseburgers, taco bowls, chicken sandwiches, Chinese food. Lot better than the sugar free jellos and peas.

Because your Doctor put you on a bland diet with no sodium. You ain’t getting Popeye’s and crawfish in the hospital.

The food at North Oaks is pretty good most days. And a decent salad bar. They just debuted their $3 Nutrish meals which are basically like those meal planning companies. It's a bowl of food that you take and go. They are selling very quickly
