The growing number of people who have withdrawn from the U.S. is made up of most unmarried men under the age of 40 who spend about seven hours a day playing video games, an economist said. That segment primarily makes up the growing percentage who have not sought out employment in the last four weeks in the U.S., said Gary Wagner, Acadiana business economist with the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. That rate has risen from from 28.5% prior to the coronavirus pandemic to 29.8%.

Americans need to be plunged into poverty in New Delhi for a nice wake up call.

I was gonna ask how someone could spend so much time playing video games...

Then I looked at my post count.

To each their own

If you're not making decent money I get it. Why bother when houses, insurance, and everything else costs so much when people and/or the government will make sure you don't die?

Video games are one of the cheapest hobbies around so that is a plus for them.

Don't they have bills? I just don't understand how someone can support themselves without some sort of income. Surely they can't get paid enough just for sitting on their asses, right?

Living on crypto gains no doubt and maybe doing a bit of day trading.

But seriously, what the hell are these people doing to stay alive? Last I checked, you need income to pay the bills that power the video games...

I was wondering that too. Unless they're a popular gaming streamer, they can't make money playing video games.

So basically the awkward, anti-social single guys that still live in their parents house because they can do it rent free?

Yeah, I still enjoy some video games but get pretty bored after an hour or so
