I have lived in several places in my life. They all had positives and all had equal negatives. There’s no perfect place just find the one you like the best or hate the least.

I could be happy in a bunch of places.
Every place has its positives & negatives when compared with other places.
The location of grandkids (when they’re young) trump most other single factors for me.
If family had zero to do with my choice, the list would include (but not limited to):
Carmel area
North Coastal San Diego County
Nantucket Island
Eastern Panhandle of WV
WNC
Lotsa Ireland
Lotsa Scotland
Lotsa Germany
Lotsa Austria
Some of England
Yakushima Island, Japan
& Where I presently am

cant answer anything like this unless you know the pay for the specific industry you are looking for, what you want out of life at this stage etc
for me, i would live along the emerald coast on the beach somewhere. My wife and I are in love with the beach and the lifestyle, only issue is my experience and degree lend heavily towards the petrochem industry and moving to a place like that would require extensive paycut while moving to a much higher COL area so wont work. even if i went into a director position in a PE firm in Miami, still would be hard to match current salary and i would depend almost entirely on bonus structure which means lots of travel and 70 hours a week
