If I'm basically just taking my current job and doing the equivalent somewhere else, probably San Diego (assuming my salary scales up enough to afford to live there). If I can just live anywhere without worrying about a job or money, probably somewhere in Southern Europe: most likely Greece or Italy.

Athens is an unincorporated community in Monroe County, Mississippi.

Athens was founded in 1830 and became the second county seat of Monroe County when Monroe County was split to form Lowndes County. Athens was named for the city in Greece, as the community's founders hoped it would become a "city of learning." Athens was located on a stagecoach line that ran from the Natchez District to Eastport.

Athens was once home to six stores, three hotels, two churches, two taverns, and a school. In the 1840s, Athens had a population of 500. In 1849, the courthouse in Athens burned down and by 1857 the county seat was moved west of the Tombigbee River to Aberdeen. After the county seat moved, Athens slowly began to lose its population.

A post office operated under the name Athens from 1830 to 1873.

The former Monroe County Jail (also known as the Athens Jail) was built in 1845 and is the oldest existing public building in Monroe County. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

If I had to take my current job into account, probably Orange County, CA or San Diego. Like Kingbob, if my salary scaled up enough to live there. Considering I only make $75,000, I'm guessing it would have to be $125-$150,000 to live there and have the same general lifestyle, which I highly doubt would happen.

If money and a job are of absolutely no importance, domestically somewhere on the Northern California or Oregon coast, in between Tillamook and Carmel/Big Sur Coastline. You have the mediterranean climate and I love foggy overcast days. Plus if you need sun, head 30 miles inland and you have mostly sunny days. Never mind just the pure amount of wonderful National and State Parks within a 6 - 8 hours drive, pure bliss for me.

If it wasn't the U.S. and I went International, probably Italy or Spain. I wish I could consider Scotland. Weather wise I would mostly enjoy Scotland, but I do like the occasional sunny day, and you just rarely get that there, Plus, unline the U.S. west coast, you can't just drive 40 miles in Scotland and get to a sunny area. Plus the political climate in the UK alone eliminates them.
