Post the demographics for each and I will tell you.

Birmingham Int'l and Mobile Int'l do not currently serve a single international destination, not even Mexico.
Mississippi is shite, but has the advantage over Louisiana. Even with horrible demographics, Mississippi has shown it can actually improve. Louisiana has shown it can't, and won't.

My daughter is going to school in Alabama and I have to admit, we've found some great towns there while traveling with her softball team. The food, however, is definetely better in LA.

Which Mississippi Gulf Coast town do you live in? I love Gulf Coast Mississippi.
The rest of the state away from the coast seems pretty lackluster though.

The difference between Jackson and Baton Rouge is LSU.

BR Water Co didn’t require a state takeover to perform basic fricking service either.

It's so of asinine to compare entire states to other states when every state in the Union has its highlights and its lowlights.
And even that is very subjective.
For example, people might like New York for the City. Some people love New York for the Adirondack mountains.
For Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana there is no doubt that each state has its fair share of crapholes. And its share of nice areas.
Coastal Mississippi is quite nice, whereas tbe Delta is full of run down small towns.

I've been through Ocean Springs a couple of times, a really nice town.

I kinda like all 3 of them, but I'm trashy like that.
I like the outdoors hunting and fishing, and all 3 have plenty of each.

This is an interesting question.
I’ll say Louisiana but I’m biased.
Growing up I was always told that prior to WW2 the gulf coast from New Orleans to Mobile (maybe even Pensacola) was remarkably a cultural monolith, Largely Catholic and French/spanish in heritage. Then as my father in law would say the Baptists left the woods to work in the shipyards and everything changed.

I don't think the Baptists were the downfall of these states. It was likely something else, just can't seem to put my finger on it.

It’s Mississippi. I actually really like Mississippi and would live there over a great number of states, but it’s definitely worse than Louisiana and Alabama.

I want to shite on Alabama but they likely win of the three. More higher education. More industry. Space program hq, large manufacturing complexes. High quality beaches east of bay. Horrible accents though.
I like Mississippi it has charm to it. I enjoy primitive camping in the forests there. The beaches are nice if you don't go in the water. The water looks like Mississippi River water.
But Louisiana offers more than both in tourism and food. Is overall more enjoyable.
Personally I'll say Mississippi, but it's almost a push with louisiana. I'm just being a Homer but every time I travel I see things that reminds me how behind we are.

As much as I despise the University of Alabama, the state is not in the same category as the other two.
The three to compare are Louisiana, Mississippi, and Arkansas.

I never said downfall of the states. I said my FIL viewed it as the change agent for the cultural monolith that was this Hwy 90 stretch of the Gulf Coast shared by these states.
