Money for “those” schools won’t help it. Generally they have enough funding.

Nola is kind of unique in that they have something like 35,000 hotel rooms and a shite ton of restaurants. All of these need the low income/low skilled work force.
Not a lot of “affordable” places to rent in much of the city.

I’m not sure what the solution is, but it def wasn’t what the city tried to do.

Pretty good thread on the Food Board about this.
It’s always been a great place most of the time.

Part of the issue is a place near them has become very popular with the cockroaches and they spill over to BBG.

Yeah it really can change you ina hurry. My wife got BC and 39 years old and I was a wreck for a while with worry.
Just keep the faith and stay strong for her.

Last night I held my mom’s hand as she took her last breath and went to heaven. Nothing else in the world has mattered the past four days as I was with her.

I get that a project like this is slow, I just don’t understand why they shut it down completely last August for almost two months.

I will never say I understand the way these kind of contracts work.

In August 2025 I had some work in that area for a while and for almost two months I don’t think they did any work on the stretch just past the mall.
I’m assuming a funding issue came up that shut them down.

Thanks for posting this as I think many of us can always use reminders for what it all means.

I’ve been through the divorce recently after 27 years. Drank too much as a result of this and some major medical issues.
Work suffered as well.

Worked a lot on myself and have the professional help as well as have learned to lean on friends and family who or wanting to help.

As I’m typing this I’m sitting in a hospital room watching my mom die. She will probably take her last breathes in the next 12 hours. I’m handling it very well thanks to what I noted above.
