I read the account in the book it was more detailed I just linked the article as a reference since I can't link the passage in the book.
1. Carson was paying for the apartment unbeknownst to him.
2. He saw the furniture and it made him mad
The book goes into much more detail.
Read up about Frank Gifford having a slam pad in NYC and using it with Johnny Carson's second wife. Carson found out and went there with a cop/private investigator friend they somehow broke in and Carson saw all of his old furniture they had recently replaced in the apartment :lol:

Some of my best workouts in my life were in my teen years in the garage. Had an adjustable bench, squat rack, ez curl bar, assorted dumbbells, and 455 pounds of various plates.

Yep my paw paw was in the Army Air Corps (Air Force) and after a certain amount of missions he was allowed 10 days of 'rest and relaxation' then would go back to the base to fly more missions. He used his to go to Rome and Cairo during WWII.
