Alabama doesn’t even belong in this conversation.
Mississippi is trying to get better, Louisiana is not.

I was born in Mississippi and now live in Alabama, but honestly, Alabama shouldn’t even be included in this grouping.

Louisiana is trying to get better. Over 100 billion in new economic development in one year, shifting conservative, cleaning up crime, lowering taxes (income) gdp per capita over 73,000. John Bell Edward’s is not govenor

The best of Mississippi (MS Gulf Coast) is better than the best of Louisiana (Northsore)
The worst of Mississippi (MS Delta) is worse than the worst of Louisiana (Nola East)
Jackson, MS is much worse than New Orleans or Baton Rouge.
Slight edge for Mississippi being worse because Jackson is the worst city in the country.

It's not Alabama based solely on the fact that Fairhope is in alabama and is better than any town the other two have to offer.

once you drive north out of the Fairhope area it's about like that Bay Minette ice cream shop video posted here a few days ago until you're past Montgomery.

Alabama is pretty solid, I could live there again

Some of you are so fricking clueless it’s incredible. The state has made massive leaps in early learning education and just received an award for the amount of economic development.

Now has a Rouses!
I drove from Nola to Shreveport not too long ago. Alexandria to Shreveport is just waiting for Noah’s Ark. I also drove from Nola to Memphis all through MS. Noah is going to be busy.

Alabama. However, keep an eye on Huntsville metro area. Tons of carpetbaggers moving in for government jobs. The city is and will be very nice but the politics could change drastically in the next decade. It’s becoming more like Nashville South.

I drove 65 from Birmingham to Nashville last summer for the first time in years. A lot less green space between Nashville and Huntsville

The difference between Jackson and Baton Rouge is LSU.
If you removed LSU, it would turn into Jackson in 20+ years, I agree. But if it vanished tomorrow, Baton Rouge still has twice the GDP (by like 30 billion) and higher income and real estate values basically across the board. Thank God for O&G. It also has way more "nice" pockets to live in than Jackson.
Jackson is like mini-Detroit in terms of economy. It's fricking bad, the economy has shriveled. I know a lot of people that live there or used to live there.
Sidenote, Baton Rouge MSA is 36% black and Jackson is 47%, something I thought would be different.
ChatGPT is awesome for these types of threads

The only thing Alabama needs is for the bible thumpers to vote in the lottery. That cuts the .10 a gallon on gas, MeMaw enacted to build Mobile ports.

Louisiana and its not particularly close
Unless you are morbidly obese and claim "food" as a reason that an area is better than another.
Maybe eat out twice a month, and have yet to live in a place where I can't find something I enjoy.
