Anonymous SEC Coach Says Lane Kiffin "Gets Too Much Credit For Trinidad Chambliss"

Lane Kiffin received plenty of praise for the development and success of quarterback Trinidad Chambliss at Ole Miss last season, but one SEC coach believes the new LSU head coach got a little too much credit.

In a recent ESPN article, an anonymous SEC coach praised Chambliss while suggesting his success wasn't simply a product of Kiffin's offense. "He's a dude," the coach said. "Lane probably gets too much credit for Trinidad."

"You could see his ability, his arm strength and arm talent coming out of [Division II] Ferris State," an SEC defensive coordinator said. "And then watching the whole season, his ability to make plays with his feet when things break down was exceptional."

He no longer will be playing for coach Lane Kiffin, who left Ole Miss for LSU before the CFP, and must adjust to a new offensive playcaller in John David Baker. Coaches expect him to build on his impressive debut season at Ole Miss.

A coach set to face Chambliss this fall praised his pure passing skills, saying, "His mechanics are more sound, and he played well last year. He played good football, and he led the team."

Chambliss was not a major transfer-portal quarterback when Kiffin brought him to Ole Miss, as he had no Division I experience. He committed to Ole Miss in the spring of 2025.
