To me, there’s not many good things I can see from the outside. It’s close to New Orleans East and the Lower 9th Ward, so that’s a huge negative.

It also seems to not have much going on. You have to go to NOLA for everything.

What’s it like to have the worst regional dialect in the history of planet earth?

I really have no idea.

Idk growing up there in the 80s and 90s I always felt like we had everything we needed. It was definitely separated back then from the east and the lower 9. I guess it felt like a little bubble but we were only 20 minutes, if that, away from everything.

You get to eat at MeMe’s and Rocky and Carlos whenever you want. That’s gotta count for something

There are far less than 72 virgins that live there. Helps with Chalmette terrorist risk!

I lived there before Katrina and had no issues with it. 15 minutes to the west and you were in the French Quarter, 15 minutes “down the road” and you were launching your boat in some of the best fisheries in the world. It was low crime and had a familial feel to it. It’s completely different now though.

Flood INS probably sky high

Dated a girl there. I hated having to go see her driving from BR.

If you're not from Chalmette, enjoy trying to understand 'em.

It used to be heavenly.
It’s a different place post-Katrina.
I’m glad I got to grow up there in the ‘70s/‘80s.

I have no personal experience with the area. These two aspects of it are objectively true though: (1) it has one of the best public school systems in the state, and (2) cost of living is low.

It was an awesome place to grow up and would have raised our family there had Katrina not happened. It was very convenient to live there and had everything you needed, without the NOLA crime
