I've got two kids there right now. They have both enjoyed it and it seems that they are getting a good education. Party scene seems to be more subdued than what I experienced at LSU.

This is true. Not saying there isn’t a party scene or drugs but nothing like an lsu, bama or ole miss just a smaller percentage of students.

State is easily my second favorite school in the SEC West

I heard they have a hell of a landscape architecture school.

I heard its actually a pretty good school to go to. I think they have a pretty good engineering department.
Starkville is in the middle of know where.

Are you being sarcastic?
I think the opinions of MSU were quite favorable.
There were, of course, a few smart aleck comments, but MSU comes across as a solid school from most of the views expressed on this thread.

They actually do. It's on a list of possible schools for my son who wants to go into aerospace engineering, and I would be completely fine with it from all the people in that industry we've talked to about it.

I know several great engineers that graduated MSU.

When I was at State, an idiot could get into ole mess with a 14 on the ACT.
Entrance requirements for Ole Miss and Miss State are identical by law.

Not back in the day, when Otis was romping with Debbie Reynolds.

I would let my child go there before LSU. Less likely to be crime victim

Correct. And Debbie was a wildcat.

In fact, many meteorologists went to school there or Oklahoma I believe. Like
Yep, two of the premier meteorology programs in the country. I considered going to MSU to study meteorology but decided that wasn’t my path.

What would be Mississippi State's overall reputation as a university be?
I'd grade them a Be Plus.
