Edit: reading through the thread I see they put all 10+ year players on the candidate list. That makes sense.

My kid is no longer little, but it's the same as it ever was. You sit down with them and show them how to tie shoes. Then you repeat the next day. Then the next day. Then again.
Eventually they do it on their own.
