re: What is so great about golf anyway?

The great thing about golf is at any one swing you can be the best in the world for that moment.
When you actually step up and hit the exact shot you were wanting to and pure it off the club face there are very few better feelings.

re: My Great Great Great Great Grandfather

My direct surname ancestor (5x grandfather) He enlisted for service in the Waxhaw settlement where he was residing in what is now York County and enlisted about 1 July 1778 and was discharged in Nov. l781. (Note he was only 15 years old when he enlisted.) His service was as a private and he served under Captains Henry Coffee, Marshall Jones, John Montgomery and under Cols. Bratton and John Marshall. He took part in the siege of Charleston, the storming of Buckhead Fort, the battles of Rocky Mount, Black River, Wright’s Bluff, Fourholes and Granby Fort.
Great episode
So what the hell is with the F35’s flying into that “cloud” and that goo taking out the planes.

2010 was awesome.
A young, energetic Mullen absolutely demolished Rich Rod in the gator bowl
I’ll probably never see state absolutely destroy a blue blood like that again. 52-14 arse kicking of Michigan

Went back in 2024 before a show. Luckily we went early enough I was able to grab one of the last prime rib's of the day. It was fantastic and I'm not usually a prime rib guy.
The wife and I did the exact same thing a few years back. Wife dragged me to see Hugh Jackman in Music Man so I got to pick the dinner spot. Gallaghers was superb and I got the prime rib as well. The show wasn’t bad either even though I’m not big into broadway plays

Well, we get to watching it late at night and low and behold my mom walks in right at the boob head guy scene
That’s a funny arse movie

The 5.3L isn’t having problems. It’s probably the most sold engine in the country between the GM SUVs and trucks. And there’s just not that much out there on post-2022 vehicles.
I’m not going to claim GM makes the most reliable vehicles and they certainly have their issues (6.2, lifters in 5.3 etc) but I do think some of the bad perception is due to the volume of full size trucks and SUVs they have on the road. Everyone of us knows people that have one so of course you’ll hear more about their issues
I am intrigued to see how the new 5.7 and 6.6 turn out.
re: What's the worst state out of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama?
Posted by Mstate on 6/26/26 at 1:59 pm to FlyingTigerBo
As someone born and raised in MS and have lived in Alabama for almost a decade and hope to never leave
1.Alabama
2.Louisiana
3.Mississippi.
As a native MS’ian I’d choose to live in MS over LA but they have a bit more going for them than MS. Although some areas of the MS gulf coast are tremendously underrated.

re: Top 10 College Baseball teams of all time(by year).....

I think Rice had a team in the mid 00’s that had a 3 man rotation of first rounders and won a title. They’d probably be in the discussion.
Some of our fans would probably say the 85 team with Clark and Palmeiro but I think our 2016 team was better
ETA: did a little digging.
85 team had 4 future MLB all stars in Will Clark, Rafael Palmeiro, Jeff Brantley and Bobby Thigpen and those are the only that made MLB
16 team had 2 future all stars in Rooker and Lowe but more overall MLB guys

Probably the 2021 or before tundra with the bulletproof 5.7 v8. Drinks gas like sumbitch though
I have a 18 Tahoe with the 5.3 and 6 speed with 130k trouble free miles. I know it’s an suv but same drivetrain as the GM trucks. I’ve always had good luck with the 5.3

Did anyone else catch the two guys beheading the dead Lannister lion in that red fork scene?
Throw in Armageddon. What’s more American than Bruce Willis and a bunch of oil field baws flying to a meteor and detonating a nuke to save the world. God I love that movie

They are certainly not the best looking truck Chevy ever produced but they are probably the best when it comes to reliability and ease of maintenance
My 04 avalanche cateye was an absolute tank. Towed, off-road all the time in that truck and sold it to a family friend with around 170k miles or so and they still drive it to this day. The GM 5.3 v8 pre AFM is one of the better engines GM ever made

I moved out in 2017, and thought it had been going downhill. Columbus has too though fwiw, probably at a faster rate than Starkville.
In what world is it going downhill? Starkville has been trending upward and Columbus has been going downhill for decades.
Schools have gotten a lot better, nice new neighborhoods being built around town, downtown has been revitalized, cotton district has exploded, new mixed use developments all over, Grant presidential library building in development etc etc
The one thing Starkville needs for a town of its size is a better hospital and there is some small crime bleed over from West Point/Columbus but pales in comparison to other SEC towns

I’m from Columbus but don’t have a lot of info on the company. I think they got started up after I moved off.
Absolutely without a shadow of a doubt live in Starkville over Columbus. Much more restaurants, bars, live music etc.
Starkville has had a bad reputation through the years but it’s not 2003 Starkville anymore. Last decade plus has been really good and it’s a fine little college town nowadays

Yes his booth is still there. When I went we went with a longtime Alabama football staffer (a family friend) and we sat at “Saban’s table” in the back. The star of the night was the snapper throat
