The first of his I watched was Insomnia in 02 and I have liked him ever since. His dialogue is pretty mediocre but he does have great set pieces.

It's not just Donut though. Mordecai, Katia, Chris, Florin, Bautista, Ren, etc. will all require tons of CGI even before the Faction Wars and Hunting Grounds. Just on the first floor the llamas, goblins, and fairies not including the bosses like the Hoarder and the Juicer. Hell the Ball of Swine will strain the budget and that's just a borough boss. The point isn't so much the tone which I think you're correct McFarlane will do that justice it's the visuals.
The grizzlies are in the same boat. This is the worst position the franchise has been in in quite some time.
The list of characters you just can't do with practical effects especially once you get to the open world floors, is immense. Sluggalos, changelings, dromedarians, etc. I don't have faith that peacock can do it justice at all.
I read a news report where there were more pictures of them together at some rooftop bar together but I have not come across those
