Winn Dixie as well, but couldn't start until 16 years old, as at least in Lafayette a work permit was required.

Mowed a few yards in the neighborhood during the summer prior to that.

Washed news cars, did “dealer prep” for a car dealership.

Funny memory from that job…..

Service department did a repair on a cop car. I washed and cleaned it up and my boss told me to drive it to the station about 3 blocks away and a salesman would come pick me up. 16 years old, backwards hat and dirty t shirt. On way there an unmarked unit pulled me over. I heard him on the radio describing me to dispatch. He was pissed. Being my cocky teenage self after I explained who I was he told me to hurry my arse up get there. I told him I would already be there if he hadn’t stop me. He didn’t like that.

Anyway. CSB

My dad owned his own business and I grew up on a farm so it was those two things during school. Clocked in/out during summer of Junior and Senior year working for an HVAC company putting in ductwork and as a helper to AC techs. I'll never ever forget that itch from being around and on that insulation all day long. It lasts for days...

I worked at a McDonalds my junior year in high school. It was a nice place to work. It was ran well and we kept it cleaned. Management was nice, but held us accountable to their expectations.

Owner grew it to multiple locations, turned it over to his kids and they ran it into bankruptcy

Burger King, underage. Didn’t last long.

Got a job at Jitney Jungle (grocery that’s no longer around) shortly after. They paid me lower than minimum wage during a “probationary period”.

First non family job was the summer I turned 16. Shovel operator (gravel in a ditch) on a construction crew.

Started the summer riding my bike because at 15 I was unable to drive. And before I could legally drive had gotten a promotion to backhoe because I could operate a tractor. Finished off August on the dynamite crew stringing up blasting caps. Was great they let me use and old manual plunger to set it off.

Three raises in 3 months which never ever happened again.

Working in my best friend's dad's meat market. Pretty sure it was like $2.45 an hour.

Looking back it seems crazy that a 15 yr old kid was allowed to operate ban saws, meat cleavers, electric slicers and ridiculously sharp knives.
