Former LSU defensive end Jack Pyburn could have an interesting decision to make regarding his football future.

Pyburn is among 16 former college football players who were granted a temporary restraining order against the NCAA by a Louisiana judge on Wednesday, potentially clearing the way for them to receive a fifth year of eligibility and return to college football this season.

Pyburn is currently with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after going undrafted in the 2026 NFL Draft. The former Tiger has impressed during the preseason, recording two sacks in Tampa Bay's recent game against the New York Jets.

Pyburn spent his first three college seasons at Florida before transferring to LSU for the 2025 season, where he started 11 games for the Tigers.

It remains to be seen whether Pyburn will pursue a return to college football or continue competing for a roster spot with the Buccaneers.

I don’t understand this. How can you play in the NFL(even preseason) and go back to college?

If you’re the player why would you wven want to do that? Isn’t being in the NFL the goal? Why go backwards?

I thought Sankey said screw the 5th year injunctions… SEC members should follow the existing rules. Except for Chambliss… Ole Miss gets a pass on his extra year because of losing Lane

Players want to be back in college because they'll make more money.

If any of those players go back to college after having been signed to an NFL contract, the NFL will never sign them next year.

Is he even interested. Although the judge issued the order for 16 players. How did his name get put on the list? Who put his name there?

You gotta feel for the high schoolers. NFL will have to find a way to step in. This could hurt them long term if there's not enough room for HS talent on college rosters

There’s over 130 teams in division 1 FBS alone. I think there’s enough spots.

He had an opportunity to make a large number of sacks last year and missed constantly by an inch... was as strange year.

We had a good system, when the NCAA was allowed to run it. Now the courts and politicians run it…
