Not bashing here, just wanted to see opinions. Why move out of the new orleans area to settle there, instead of moving to a new state completely? It's not like there are a ton of great jobs or companies in either area. Isn't the benefit of the north shore still tied to the future of New Orleans?

Proximity to family that has remained in the area is my guess.

Its a nice place to live and close enough to friends and family that live in New Orleans.

Why move out of the new orleans area to settle there,

Some people do leave new orleans and the state entirely

Some move to the northshore to have better schools, less crime, but still be close to parents/siblings

It’s for people who need/want to stay in Louisiana either for jobs or family in the New Orleans area but who don’t want to deal with the cultcha of the city itself.

Less culcha than the south shore and I guess technically still close to the city for weekends, etc.

But what I don't get is if you're gonna live in a suburb, live in one in a state that doesn't suck.

You still have to deal with shitty weather, flooding, traffic, lack of industry, marginal schools, etc.

It's like the first step for people who enjoy living outside of LA but are scared or too tied down by family.

To live OUT of New Orleans is why. If one's job there, it's better to endure that commute than actually live inside that shithole.

Can still have my job and pay of being in NOLA without actually having to deal with all the shite that comes with living in NOLA. I can get 2 to 3x's the house for slightly more than I pay now. I can send my future kids to great public schools. I can live around other like minded individuals who share similar values, unlike in NOLA.

Really the better question is why wouldn't any middle class, moderate to conservative person want to live there compared to NOLA.
