I live in Jefferson Parish on a golf course. I have a 20-25 minute commute unless there’s a wreck. In any city, you’re never too far from the jungle.

But spending 2 hours a day in the car (at a minimum)? No fricking thanks. The people who tell you it’s worth it are lying, mostly to themselves. Buddy of mine moved to Mandeville 20 years ago and finally admitted to me that it sucked. He quit his job because of it.

This website: NOLA is trash and may as well be burned to the ground. Also this website: the Northshore is great because it is in driving distance to NOLA.

Yeah screw all of that.
I've briefly thought about how nice it would be to live up there in a nice house in Beau Chene and enjoy the club and such, but I just couldn't handle to drive.

My kids have had a great private school education. When I move it's going to be out of state to a small little nice town with strict building codes and such or up in the mountains somewhere.

Everyone says this, but when my friends move to the northshore, it might as well be Texas, I’m still not crossing the bridge

So you're just a shitty friend. Weird flex.

All my friends come to my house just as much as they did when we were in Old Metairie. It's less than an hour Not much more than an afternoon commute from downtown.

Gotta love the boomers talking about traffic. Half the folks in my upper middle class neighborhood on the Nshore WFH. It’s 2022, a lot of people don’t have to drive to an office.

True but I bet most of them started WFH because of the Covid crap. I worked from home for over a year and didn’t care much for it. Glad to be back in the office three days a week.

I have to mention how much I do like the old Mandeville lakefront area. My kind of place.

So they could live anywhere in the US and choose to live there? That’s honestly kind of sad.

Not bashing here, just wanted to see opinions. Why move out of the new orleans area to settle there, instead of moving to a new state completely? It's not like there are a ton of great jobs or companies in either area. Isn't the benefit of the north shore still tied to the future of New Orleans?

There is a giant lake between the two.

If you are in Covington you are 40 miles from there. Not long ago there wasn’t shite out there and lots were cheap.

Horrific traffic, corrupt parish officials who work for developers (not the people who elected them), and the proliferation of DSLD/DR Horton subdivisions.

We built a home on 1077 twelve years ago so my wife would have a short commute to her job. It was great up until about five years ago. You are a prisoner in your own home now certain times of the day because of traffic. Time to drop kids off at school the roads fill up. Lunch time, the roads fill up. From three to six p.m. ,the roads fill up. Church let’s out, the roads fill up. Store shelves stay empty of quality items because of the number of people. It’s clear nobody planned infrastructure to keep pace.
I will be going back to MS gulf coast in a couple of years. They are building neighborhoods in Biloxi north of I10 that are accessible by four lane roads complete with traffic circles and underground utilities before the constructions even start.

It’s amazing how nobody in St Tammy or Ascension Parish could ever think of something like this over the past 20 years.
