Does anyone have any experience with this company? I have a few rentals and wanted to get an HVAC maintenance plan with them. I might use them for plumbing and electrical issues too for convenience if there service is good.
Any feedback on this company?

K&N is to auto air filters as Bose is to home audio: all marketing and poor performance.
Next time, let your husband make the air filter buying decisions.

Renovation/architect recommendation - NOLA
Posted by Dandaman on 11/2/25 at 4:23 pm
I have a very large attic space and want to add a second floor, so will need a staircase designed/added and a room and bathroom on second floor. Need windows added through current roof.
I’m thinking I need to start with an architect for this project considering the structural and design issues.
Does anyone have a recommendation for an architect who would be interested in the small project?

re: The massive number of people who are unemployable

A certain percentage of people don’t have a decent IQ.
This will not change.
Such people aren’t capable of a job due to IQ deficiency.
We need to find a way to take care of them or we will have problems.
Technology has and will continue to eliminate low IQ jobs, exacerbating the problem.

NOT ANYMORE.
Half or more are AI junk. It’s like a chinese knockoff of a watch. Yea: it looks good, but the entire point was the authenticity.
Memes aren’t interesting without an authentic human element.

Makes sense for Louisiana to benefit here. I hope there is a way for us to tax the revenue generated by these data centers.

You think indictments have the real story?

Danzinger Bridge Shooting

I want to know the real story.
I don’t believe these officers just pulled up and started killing innocent people. If they did, it was mistaken identity due to extreme circumstances. I don’t believe there was any malice.
I do believe there was some cover up after the fact due to bad optics relative to the situation and these officers recognizing that outsiders would never understand the circumstances, but that is a minor crime IMO, considering everything.
These officers stayed behind, performed countless rescues, did the best they could and were vilified.
Someone on here knows the reason why shots were fired that day and I would like to hear why (and not just a generic “there was a report of shooting at other officers”)

Katrina news story

Does anyone remember that one local news show had a NOPD officer on within days of flooding that said he deserted his post and was leaving the city, citing chaos?

There are talks already with the attorneys. First step is signing everyone up who lived within 10 miles.
According to our doctrors, if they have a cough this coming year, they have a case.
We are also engaging crooked engineers to help us blame home damage to the vibration from the explosion.
Have a crack in your wall, give us a call.
We need to find more insurance than what the plant has to offer so we will be suing every company who was involved in building the plant, every contractor who serviced the plant, and every manufacturer whose products were used at the plant.
The more defendants involved the more complex our claims will be and the jury will never be able to figure out the truth.
We will carefully draft our pleadings to trigger every type of insurance coverage imaginable and to make sure these claims stay in a local court so that a local elected judge allows us to keep this litigation unwieldy for the defendants.
Claimed damages and litigation costs will be so high for the defense that they will pay ransom via early settlement, which will allow us to fund the campaigns for judges and politicians who will keep this gray train alive.

I have mower, edger, blower, pole saw and weed eater. All about 4 years old now and I only have two batteries (10 and 2.5). No issues. Pole saw is great.
Every time I lay in a hammock at a camp or in my backyard - without a thing to do, it reminds me of how little I get to experience that type of relaxation and happy boredom.
I worry my kids will never experience these joys...they can't seem to stomach any kind of summer boredom that would eventually leads to using your imagination and inventing fun.

Gen x experience - lost forever.

Generation X — born roughly between 1965 and 1980 — stands as a bridge between the analog past and the digital present, and in that crossing, they’ve lost more than just time. They’ve lost a kind of living that was tactile, unpredictable, and deeply personal.
They lost the magic of mystery — the kind that came from waiting. Waiting for a letter to arrive. Waiting for your favorite song to play on the radio so you could hit “record” at just the right second. Waiting to develop film, unsure if the photos would be clear or ruined by a thumb over the lens. They didn’t always know where someone was or what they were doing — and there was comfort in that distance.
They lost the richness of boredom. Days spent lying in the grass staring at clouds or flipping through a dog-eared magazine. The unstructured afternoons that gave birth to creativity, imagination, and the kind of conversations that sprawled into the night, unbroken by screens.
They lost impermanence. Generation X came of age in a world where nothing was instantly archived. You said things and they drifted away. You made mistakes and they weren't recorded. There was a freedom in that — a space to grow, to reinvent, to forget.
They lost the analog rituals — spinning a record with care, writing phone numbers in a little book, reading the liner notes of a cassette while the music played. Each act a small ceremony that connected them more deeply to the world.
And they lost a certain slowness. Life wasn’t constantly accelerated by notifications or algorithms. You found things — music, friends, ideas — by chance, by conversation, by flipping through the back of a zine or walking into a record shop with no agenda.
What Gen X lost is subtle but profound: a sense of being truly untethered, of finding things instead of being fed them, of living without constant comparison or surveillance. They had a private kind of youth — and that kind of privacy now feels like a relic of another world.
