Not sure how old you are, but in the early days of cable TV, Atlanta's WTBS could be seen all over the country, and they broadcast the Braves' games. That is how the Braves got such a large national following.
And that evolved into the Turner Broadcasting empire.

Yes, and Waffle House and Mellow Mushroom.
Atlanta is an economic and transportation hub. I first came here for a couple of years to do an intership which ended up lasting for a couple of years. It was a lot of fun for a 20-something. Always something going on, bars, concerts, restaurants, the Hooch, close to the mountains. It seemed to have a distinct big Southern town vibe....Gone with the WInd, Margaret Mitchell, Ted Turner, Lewis Grizzard, Flossy Mae, Delta, Eastern, Underground, and son on. Came back a few years later for jobs, burbs, schools, and such.
There is a lot of significant Civil War history in Atlanta, but most of the sites were paved over long ago. Kennessaw has been preserved and there are markers all around the city, but few stop to read them.
There is a lot of Civil Rights history here too.
So many folks have moved here from elsewhere, its hard to zoom in on a singular distinctive character, like New Orleans or Boston or San Antonio

I like Houston for the food scene. Best TexMex food in the world. It’s way too hot and dirty there.
I live in Atlanta and have for 30 years. One thing that no one has mentioned is the hidden gem of city which is Buford Highway between Brookhaven and Doraville.
Fantastic restaurants up and down that stretch of road. From all different nationalities. World class food from hole-in-the-wall to casual to high-end Michelin rated restaurants. It’s the best thing the city has to offer IMO. No bullshite private-equity owned ‘concept’ restaurants like Buckhead (which is obscenely overrated), just miles of authentic owner-operated restaurants that are fantastic. It’s my favorite thing about living here.

I never said Atlanta doesn’t have them, or that Nashville was unique. There’s a difference between having something and being known for it.
Houston has the second highest concentration of live theatre seating in the US, behind only NYC. Until reading this, I’d bet almost nobody here knew that.
