My dog Missy (RIP) understood at least 40 words. She knew the names of all of my family members and friends.
I would say “go see Randall” and she would wag her tail and head towards my buddy Randall.
She was the only dog that was allowed on the golf course I played. She had better etiquette than a lot of golfers. When someone was hitting or putting she would freeze until they finished. If she saw a golf ball somewhere on the course, she would stand over it and look in all directions to see if anyone was coming for the ball. If after a couple of minutes nobody appeared she would put the ball in her mouth and bring it to me.
If I hit a golf ball into the rough and could not find it, I would tell her to “get the ball”.
She would sniff around and dig into the rough until she found it and then bring it to me
