I spy some Mike White (White Lotus creator and denier of Daddario frontal views)
86 in Atlanta ... beating UK with Sky Walker after losing to them all season. Punched the ticket in style.

Great service to deal with the silly lines
Goodish Burger
Fries are terrible (though my lady claims ordering them extra crispy makes it better)

Habit is the way to for faster food burgers in Socal

big fan. Seventeen Going Under is one of the best songs in the last five years IMO.

did you ever get to work with anyone from the tv show scrubs (production cast etc)

I did a pilot with Sarah Chalke a long time ago ... 12 years maybe? It was directed by Jay Chandrasekhar, but for some reason wasn't very well written or funny. Never saw the light of day.

Yeh ... that would be Mr. Mike White. He's into writing for ladies, but not necessarily being with one.

I did ask the 1st Assistant Director about the first season, when the cast and crew were all sequestered at a Four Seasons in Hawaii. Can you imagine every day you are seeing those two (SS/AD) at breakfast and moving around the grounds. He specifically said that SS would sunbathe on her days off out on some rocks in front of the resort. AD he said was reserved, but nice.

I worked with AD's current ex Andrew ... I liked him and he's a big producer tied in Michael Bay. Even at 57, dude will bounce back quickly.

Dispatches
The Quiet American
Hue: 1968
The Sympathizer
Vietnam: An Epic Tragedy
Lonely Planet Vietnam

I've traveled there at least a dozen times and you are in for an experience. I like Luke Nguyen's travel/cooking shows as well. And of course, Anthony loved the country.

Classic made by a master. The smartest and also most intimidating director I have encountered .. well, PCW is up there too. He's nice enough, but knows everyone's job better than they do .... he made me nervous to be honest.

Good post because I'm due for a rewatch.
I'm hearing things that NOLA is next. Anyone else?
Watermark is really the only answer. Indigo isn't bad for the money, just small rooms.

There are some high end airbnb's out there if you are looking closely.

Man, if they come close to recreating 1977 in the way that Tarentino did with 1968 in Once Upon a Time, I'll be in hog heaven.

Oh they will. Don Burt (fincher's longtime guy) designed it and they shot entirely in LA with a lot of well designed sets on stage. I saw some photos and the sets are amazing.

Erik Messerschmidt will give it a darker look than Bob Richardson ... should be great visually.

I'm really looking forward to it.

Pretty impressive considering they just wrapped camera in early January.

re: Is Ali Wong hot?

She's funnier and richer than 99.9% of all women in Louisiana. And not bad looking. And famous. So yes .. that could be considered hot.

The soul of a movie comes from the story and the relatability of the characters to the human experience. The actors make the story compelling, they don’t give the movie soul.

 that's exactly what they do

I tell you what --- have the silly robots do an AI version of There Will Be Blood and tell me what it spits out .... all full of soul because of the computer generated story.
wow ... what's with the dislike for Cocha? More interesting than ALL of the recs on here.

losers

AI could be used to fill gaps or make corrections, but in the end…it’s still cgi. Soulless cgi. Realistic looking ai slop characters might make a compelling reel on social media, but don’t see it translating to feature length movies where people still crave storytelling that features an actor with a soul.

Of course a generation goes by that is raised by AI and that theory goes out the window.

exactly. As long as there are real directors and real actors still working, AI will be a powerful tool to augment VFX and Stunts. I am seeing it firsthand.

Now for commercials and music videos with little to no dialogue -- it will be a full creation tool for a 1 minute spot or 3 minute video. Since it's a commercial endeavor, people will expect the automation from companies. Now, once all the greats are gone and the next few generations who grew up on phones take over --- who knows really. I'm glad I won't be around to see it.
Cocha has a back room and is open on Mondays
 maybe that didn't sound right ... rephrase: I worked with him on something
Good for him. Solid dude .... a wiry, but strong looking 6'6" and tougher than you might think. I did something with him in China that required more than posing for the camera. He would make a fine bond from what I've seen.
