I couldn’t get over how small the crowd was at the Music City Bowl yesterday. The Vols have sold out the game in their other appearances, couldn’t have been 40k there yesterday. Hell, Titans tickets were going for more than this game.
Very myopic views. The games this year were closer than last years first round. And of course, the four team playoff was blowout fest, 14 of the 30 games were decided by 20 or more.

Tulane joins these schools in getting beat by 20+ in a playoff game:

Florida State
Oregon (x2)
Oklahoma (x2)
Michigan State
Ohio State (x2)
Notre Dame
Alabama
Clemson
Cincinnati
Michigan
TCU
Washington
SMU
Tennessee

James Madison actually lost by less than the average college football playoff game since its inception
First round average MOV 2025: 16.25
First round average MOV 2024: 19.25

14 of the 30 CFP games in the 4 team era were decided by 20 or more points. Stop blaming the G5 schools.
The average margin of victory in this year’s first round, featuring 2 G5 schools, was 16.25, which is 3 points closer than last years first round margin of victory which included all p4 schools (and Notre Dame). The average margin was also closer than the average college football playoff game as a whole since the inception in 2014 (which averages a 17.4 point margin of victory)

Florida panhandle:

Publix: $9.99/lb ($12.99/lb if you get more than 2)
Winn Dixie: $8.99/lb with $25 purchase
If this was "last Sunday" meaning the 7th - that was fog on the gulf coast. Was flying into Pensacola, we were ten minutes from landing (just before 4:00 PM) and diverted to Atlanta, Southwest finally cancelled the flight around 9:00 PM, didn't leave until Monday morning. Weather issue, not the fault of the airline. You can always ask, but they can't do shite about the weather.
Only a few interactions:

George Foreman, Derrick Brooks, Ben Zobrist, and Cortland Finnegan. All very pleasant, I’d even say gentlemanly. Finnegan kept calling me “sir” which was respectful, but I’m not much older than him.
This is the second year of the 12 team playoff. Last years championship game participants wouldn’t have even made a 4 team field last year.

ND is the best team out of the 3. Miami by a mile is worst

Miami beat one of them head to head, and beat the common opponent with the other (said common opponent beat the other).

Should they be penalized for losing a meaningless conference title game while others sat at home?

Hell, that happened to both Auburn and Wisconsin in 2017

No way SEC runner up- who was in- is left out because they lost CCG. If so, there will not be a championship game next year

Agreed.

Sincerely,
2017 Auburn
2023 Georgia

thought FSU played their #2 QB then he entered the transfer portal after? Did I make that up?

That was the 3rd string QB. 2nd stringer got concussed in a dirty (penalized) hit against Florida the week before.

If you want the precedent set for a team (specifically SEC for this site) who was in the field and then out after the SECCG, you’re an idiot. Period.

That precedent was set in 2017 and reaffirmed in 2023

The ACC isn’t a serious major league. Time to stop giving notre dame a pass, they’re playing an absurd schedule. Duke is playing for their title and has a 4 score home loss to Illinois, the 7th place big ten team.

Imagine having a team playing for league title that had a two score loss to the 13th place team of a non serious league

ND fans are plenty familiar with this scenario. ND was 11-1 in 1993. Florida St. was 11-1 in 1993. ND beat Florida St. head to head. Florida St. was crowned the National Champion. So, yeah, I think they are familiar with it, so if they lost a national title on that basis, I am sure they are fine throwing head to head out the window just as the AP and Coaches did to them in 1993.

Well ackshually…Florida State was 12-1, so technically not the same record. With no true national title game in those days, you had four schools that had a punchers chance of being declared national champs that year based on their bowl games, all of which were played on NYD. Those were the days…

Does Miami have worse losses

Alabama 10-2 SOR 8
Vanderbilt 10-2 SOR 11

who has the worse losses, or does head to head matter here?

What conference championship game is Notre Dame playing in this weekend?

And why is Alabama even playing in a conference championship game. Yeah, they beat Georgia head to head, but that don’t matter, they got Molly-whomped by the 13th best team in the ACC. Shouldn’t another 7-1 SEC team be in there? Is that how this works?
Head to head matters as a tie breaker in every sport ever except for college football for some reason. Imagine two NFL teams sitting atop a division 12-4, one swept the division, but somehow lost to the Titans, Saints, Raiders, and Giants so they lose because of their losses.
The Cubs broadcasts in the late 80s were always the best. The views of the lake, great crowd shots, and of course Harry. The TBS broadcasts pre-1991 were tough because the Braves were so bad and the attendance was awful, I’m talking some games the announced attendance was under 3000. As Harry aged in the 1990s and the Braves became a powerhouse, the TBS coverage seemed to get so much better because not only were you getting to watch one of the best teams in the game on a nightly basis but the bandwagon began to roll and they had great crowds at Fulton County.
ACC is a mess, likely won’t know the participants for the conference championship game until rivalry week. Reasonable chance there are three 7-1 teams, but somehow ESPN is projecting current 4-2 Miami to win the conference.
