Softball smack?
Man, was Saban really that long ago?

But there was another artistin the museum, (starts w/ a "V", ?Vanderveer, Venmier?), whom I'd never heard of .... he was just brilliant. Picture after picture. Maybe because Rembrandt came first, the guy was under appreciated, but, you're right, given an artist-blinded choice, I might very well select that guy instead of a Rembrandt.
Vermeer.
Stunning, almost photographic clarity.
This pic doesn’t do it justice.

I must have missed "Indonesian Lives Matter".
Indonesia is the largest Muslim country in the world. Why would a display of Indonesian art not be triggering as a promotion of Islam?

More hysterics. Nobody is saying this.
You deny that there are replies in this thread drawing a line from this art to DEI and calling this a cultural war?

It is a token display. I assume you have no standards.
I have no idea what point you are trying to make here.
Am I a good judge of Zimbabwean art? No.
I can barely see why Rembrandt is supposed to stand out from other Dutch Masters of the period, but it doesn’t stop me from standing in awe in front of The Night Watch in the Rijksmuseum.
And, no, I am not equating these. I’m freely admitting that I (like 99% of this board) am not qualified to say what is “good” art.
I find it laughably sad that this board has become overrun with the stereotypes I railed against the media for claiming were the core of the new right.
“Art from Africa? This DEI stuff will kill us all unless Donald Jesus Trump saves us!”

It’s all fine and good to drill and produce. That can be spooled up in relatively short order.
Without the pipelines to distribute the oil, though, what’s the point? Trucks can work to a degree, but pipelines are the critical path.
And, since these take time and FERC is a function of whatever party is in power, I sure as hell would need a lot of convincing to put big chips in on getting them approved after 2028.
Want a list of pipeline projects that were abandoned during the Biden administration?

Without the right "pearl clutching", then woke/DEI insanity would have become embedded in American culture.
Would there be the same histrionics if the art were Indonesian? Chilean? Egyptian?

The better option is to just stay at home. Here in Louisiana there is so much to see and do that I never feel the need to visit other states.
Speaking for the other 49 states…

How much do you know about Rhodesia, Zimbabwe, and Robert Mugabe?
More than average, since history is about all I read and watch.
What in the actual frick does an art exhibition have to do with a murderous despot they managed to overthrow 10 years ago?
Seriously, the pearl clutching over a traditional ART exhibition in an airport is why so much of the right has just lost the fricking plot.

I’m all for using social media to further the mission, efficiency, and effectiveness of necessary government operations.
Not so much for our leaders to stop just short of ducklipping in selfies.
ETA: Apologists will rationalize this with claims of it being “in fun”, a troll to distract, or some other bullshite. I don’t want any of it. I want people to take these jobs seriously and not as platforms for their brand.
ETA2: And just like that, thread is anchored. This crap is getting old fast.

In 2025, for reasons passing understanding, we started the year #1 in at least one poll. We ended up as pathetic clusterfricks.
Pretty sure the sentiment here is taking joy in LSU’s somewhat analogous 2026.

As much shite as A&M and LSU throw back and forth, I always liked Miles and Orgeron, just like I liked Leach. Any jabs they ever took always seemed good natured. They also seemed reasonably trustworthy.
Brian Kelly and Lane Kiffin? Not so much.
