The only way China takes Taiwan is from the inside or by a blockade. Anything that relies on amphibious assault is dead in the water, and an airborne exercise can’t be done at the scale needed to win militarily.

The inside part may already be underway, but is the very definition of a long game.

A blockade would run into the issue of free passage of the Taiwan Strait, and that’s where China would find out just how alone and exposed that effort would be.

China may get reunification, but almost certainly not by force.
