Not having “that thing” to hang its hat on means diverse economy with multiple industries plus a quality of life that gets talent to agree to live here.
But also a lot of pollen.

Atlanta is what it is. An awesome city with everything you need from a living and fun perspective. Sure, it has no Great Wall or Empire State Building but it has money, jobs, and liveability. And it’s becoming whiter year after year as the old sections are being renovated with condos and apartments. My kids live on the belt line in the old 4th ward and I was upset when they told me where they were looking. When I helped move them in and took a walk on the belt line I could have been in Nashville, Central Park, Dallas, or Seattle as it was all young smart well paid people walking, jogging, on e-bikes, or scooters. Sure, there were your typical mentally ill idiots laying on benches or going thru garbage cans but I’ve seen that in every city or town these days.
Well said. The people on this board who hate on Atlanta have never left their trailer in Livingston or Iberville Parish, LA.

Have you ever heard of the Movie/Television industry? Atlanta is the Hollywood of the east. It seems like a ton of people I know are working on some kind of movie set or anything that has to do with the movie/tv industry and they are making shite tons of money. That industry fuels a TON of small businesses from graphic designers to remodeling to contractors to electricians, etc etc etc
In addition, Atlanta is the Hip-Hop capitol of America. Real Hip-Hop, not fake USAID Hip-Hop
Is Atlanta the best city in the world? Nope.. but it sure as hell is not the worst city in the world and it's a hell of a lot better than living in Nashville, Dallas, Houston, New Orleans
I lived in Dallas and Nashville and Atlanta smokes both of them - Although I really enjoy both cities but they don't offer nearly as much as what Atlanta offers - I'm talking shopping, parks, restaurants, nightlife, sports, etc etc etc
YES, Atlanta traffic sucks but it's just something you get used to living here.. In fact, everybody I know uses traffic time to catch up on phone calls and meetings
I have never lived in Houston but have been there many times and it's a shithole
New Orleans? Naaaah
I also lived in Miami for a while and Miami smokes all of them but that was 15+ years ago. I loved it when I lived there but I also partied my arse off when I lived there which I don't really do anymore

Does its infrastructure function better than in Louisiana? Because that’s a draw.
