I use the photoshop app to change my boarding group

I though the gate agents screen also showed group #. Evidently not.

That sucks...that will give the window people first dibs on overhead space. I'm an aisle guy. Terrible idea.

I’m now a window guy, problem solved.

And of course flying back to Nola, that adds prob another 45 minutes on to your trip waiting on your bag.

Nothing like being assigned group five and boarding at the front of group 2.

I did have a fight out of Cartagena a few weeks back where I got a free upgrade to an exit row. When I went to get on plane. The gate agent said "you don't have the new pass I just printed out for you?". Luckily when I pulled it out he didn't see it said 3 and not 2. It was an outside stair loading too, no jet bridge.

Now my flight Saturday I don't think I need to do it because leg one is just Newark and I have a seat already and am checking luggage. I wait until I'm waiting to board to decide which boarding group I want.

Just screen shot boarding pass. Remove number you need and paste over the group number on your old pass.

Think about the boarding process. You scan your ticket and it dings and turns green. They may check the name. Usually they don't.
Then the new thing is they don't even look at the boarding pass, they just have you walk up and hold your passport while they take a picture of you. Then all your info pops up and you enter plane.

But when they do scan your boarding pass it's only to ensure you're on the right plane. And if Spirit or Frontier they check your bag size. (Another hack is they never check back pack size. So you can fly with a carry on sized back pack as a personal bag)
I stopped using wheeled carry on and can fit a full week in a Rick Steve's backpack suitcase.

Oh wow.
Common sense boarding.
It's amazing no one has thought of this before..

Read the actual article. They will still pre-board all the special groups, and group 1 and 2 remain unchanged. The changes only start with group 3.

And they will allow people who booked their tickets together to board at the first available opportunity. This solves the family issue, but still allows for multiple people who don't have window seats to board when the window seat group gets called.

Also, per the article, this is only expected to save "up to" 2 minutes.

In short, this is a big nothing burger.

Yes, most regular fliers will not be affected due to status. This affects the poors who have no status. Therefore I really don't care, since I am not affected.

Here is a wild idea....board the plane from the back to the front. No more waiting for people to get their luggage in the overhead bin in holding up the entire boarding process

I was flying Lufthansa out of Munich and they had people boarding through two jetbridges - one in the front and one in the back. You were assigned based on which entrance you were closest to. It was really quick.

As a premier 1K member this does not affect me at all, but I agree with it 100 percent. As someone who takes at least two flights per week I applaud anything that gets us out of the gate faster...

I love the idea, but you’re going to have some nazi boarding agent not let a child board with their mother because one is window and one is aisle.

I always wait until zone 8.

I hate sitting on a still plane. The less time iam in there, the better.

Don’t care about overhead space.

During Covid they boarded from the rear of the plane which seemed to work well

So bathroom guy too?

Why else would someone want to be where other people bump into you, and fart on the way to the bathroom?

Part of why flying is such a garbage experience. Too many people flout the procedures. Boarding out of group, carrying on bags that are too large, and carrying on too many, etc... No lack of inconsideration among the human race.

I read the fricking article.
All 20 seconds of it.
I'm not going into a synopsis of the benefits and drawbacks though.
Window, middle, aisle.
Makes sense.
Of course the more expensive ticket holders will board first.
Anything is better than the free-for-all methods currently used...

Just boarded a plane. Back to front, bag overhead of your seat would make boarding easy
