If I pay for first class I’d rather board last so I can take my time in the terminal knowing I have an extra 30 minutes to use bathroom, eat, etc.

You can do this now. Just don’t get on the plane until the end.

To me it never made sense the way most airlines do it.

It makes TOTAL sense strictly from a seating perspective The problem is overhead bins. Aisle seats get absolutely fricked.

I’m actually tired of this shite. I bought a carryon that is small enough for every airline. Yet I see people with multiple bags bigger than the ones they allow, or throw their fricking bag up top that can go under the seat.

Not this last flight I took, but the one before. They made me check my bag at the gate because they were running out of room. Even though I guarantee I was one of the few with a fricking spinner that actually fit their dimensions. And of course flying back to Nola, that adds prob another 45 minutes on to your trip waiting on your bag.

I actually hate traveling now. Just standing lines everywhere just to take it up the arse.

If gas was cheaper I’d just drive more.

Northwest used to board the planes back to front. Then they were bought by Delta and this weird frickery was unleashed where they board front to back, which is stupid and takes forever.

Northwest was the best airline.

That sucks...that will give the window people first dibs on overhead space. I'm an aisle guy. Terrible idea

Agreed. A couple times in my flying life the airline boarded back to front. International airlines. It worked like a charm. They even had attendants telling people they couldn't leave their bags towards the front. It was so quick and efficient. I am all about sitting in a aisle seat, so I would be pissed if all airlines did this. I have status with UA, but not some others. It's not reasonable for people in aisle seats to get screwed. Do first and biz class, then back to front. Simple.

But hey you don’t have to go to baggage claim and wait 5 minutes

spoken like someone who travels once every couple years and forgot he waited at baggage claim for 30+ minutes. And hopefully your bag showed up. I have had my luggage lost in Europe and the USA and it's the worst feeling plus you now have to go buy things in the interim hoping your bag comes back.

I fly first class most of the time and my routine is to arrive at the gate just as the last groups are boarding, try to be one of the last people on the plane. If I have time or on a layover I simply spend 15 more minutes in the lounge instead of rushing to the gate. Last thing I want to do is sit there while 160 vacation sherpas bump into me while hauling everything they own to the back of the plane.

Great with adults but splitting groups with elderly, children or dumb/nervous first timers could cause problems.

Simple solution. The parent just stays back until the kid can board. It’s not difficult. I’m not leaving my young kid behind.

Not a bad idea. I just thought going back of the plane up was a better idea than window / isle.

I think with bins only one bag in bin per person. Second bag must go under seat. Then you can only put bag above your seat. If airlines enforced this you wouldn't have issues. Also there are people who don't load the bags properly and take up two spots.
I hate flying cheap in the front 15 rows because by the time I board the front 15 rows overhead is full.

My trick is I never print my boarding pass. I only use it on the phone.
I use the photoshop app to change my boarding group and to remove "no carryon" from my ticket.
The gate. Agents rarely check boarding number but if they do I'm good.
I never go group 1, but will do 2.
Saves me a lot on tickets because I can book the cheapest ticket and have a bag and good boarding group.
I've done this 7 times in the past year.

Oh wow.
Common sense boarding.
It's amazing no one has thought of this before...
