Surprised it hadn't been mentioned. NOAA and the national weather service took a staffing hit under DOGE last year and lost 17% of their staff. There were claims from NOAA that it was going to affect the accuracy of their forecasts.
They just missed the forecast. Plain and Simple.
ETA: Also, if we’re talking about missed “accuracy”…why is it they always miss by predicting worse weather? Have we ever seen meteorologists tell us we’re going to have a wonderful day and then the sky drops? That’s when I would blame DOGE cuts.
I came to bitch about the forecast miss too. Not a drip of rain after being told we were getting a gulley washer.
