It may seem useless, but one of the smartest moves BR could possibly make is to reclaim Florida Blvd. Get rid of the blight and give generous tax incentives to lure businesses back there. Put police on every dang corner, if necessary.

This country has really done women a disservice as to not really pay attention to their hormones until they come up on menopause.

I cannot overstate how important it is to get hormones straight, and for men, as well. Walking around with nearly 0 testosterone will make you TIRED.

Not to sound like an infomercial, but HRT has legitimately changed my life. I went for several years feeling like a slug and so unlike myself. I dragged through each day, basically ready to go to bed as soon as I woke up. Now I run circles around my college self. It's actually awesome, and I have much gratitude for my docs and the scientists who make this stuff.

I hate you for exposing me to this trial more than I’d wanted to. If this is accurate I have questions - so many questions

I was purposefully avoiding reading about this case, but now I'm down the rabbit hole with you.

This lady is clearly out of her mind, but it would be wild if the husband did it and framed her. He wouldn't have expected her to survive falling out of the window.

I wonder how many of them had thoughts of killing their own kids at some point and that’s why this resonates so deeply? Makes you wonder.

I think deep down it's a coping method for women who have justified an abortion at some point in their life. Whether it be their friend's, their own, or just their political support of the legal right, it takes a lot of cognitive dissonance to arrive on the side of supporting such a thing.

Who signed them up for a dance company that practices until 930PM? Parents did. Who signed Braxxtyn up for extra batting practice that doesn't end until 9PM on school nights? Parents did.

Good grief. Yes, parents sign them up, but they sure don't make the schedules.

Are you being sarcastic or do you have very young children and haven't experienced this yet?

Funny how you think most teenagers "figure it out." Just like how they "figure out" how to budget, right?

Yes. This is literally the point of the teenage years. We guide, suggest, nudge, etc. and help them figure it out. If they pull too far away, we pull the rope back a little. If a teenager is too tired for school, barring mental deficits, they WILL figure it out.

If you don't let them figure things out, they wind up with emotional support cats in college and their moms writing on FB pages about the "supplies" their sons need.
This isn't a realistic bed time for a teenager unless he has zero outside activities. It's great for him to get a lot of sleep, and it's ideal, but it doesn't work with sports, dance, etc.

By the time ours were teenagers, I think we just wanted them in their rooms by 10:00 because we were going to bed. If they stayed up past that it was on them. They figure it out quickly if they're too tired for school.

“millennial dads are the greatest generation” social media posts lately. These psychopaths genuinely seem to believe this is the hardest time to be a dad in the history of humanity. It’s beyond fricking comical how self-important this group is. ??

With their 3 months of maternity leave.
I'm going with SallysHuman on this one. Maybe y'all are older, but it's actually very fashionable right now to size down. That doesn't work if you have a huge belly, but if you're reasonably fit, tighter is what's trending. A medium on this guy would look frumpy.

Go look around campus on game day. The college guys are not wearing loose-fitting shirts anymore.
This honestly looks like a blast. It's not that different from going to a resort that has lots of activities. Maybe the bunk beds and sleeping bags, but if a group of friends wanted to go, I'd join for sure.

No. Have you ever perused the LSU parent page?

The college parent FB pages are wild. I have to believe some of these people are trolls or else society is doomed.

quote:

It's not an imposition if you truly care for someone.

Clearly you're not actually dealing with this. These are great sentiments when you're not mentally, physically, and financially drained "caring" for someone who lived it up in their glory years, spent all of their money, but fully expects you to give up your life to "care" for them.

My parents would be thrilled to move into St James. Hell, I can’t wait to go myself.

My sentiments exactly. My retirement plan isn't to move in with my kids and turn their lives upside down. Bring on the arts & crafts.

There is a shocking amount of current students from the north and west.

LSU has their fair share, as well. This ramped up after Covid and Alabama Rush Tok. I'm not kidding. I guess kids up north decided having fun in college might actually be a good thing.

Jaxson's Dad is not going to compromise "Getting the Call" from Rolex and Mom not driving her Range Rover over simple college tuition

There's some of that, but we also have a ton of dirt poor "first gen" college students. Their parents aren't educated (might not even speak English) and don't make any money for themselves anyway.

The high school counselors push them all to go to college without any real consideration for how the student will pay for it.

I would also try to send them to public school for k through high school. The idea of spending $100k before college seems crazy to me.

People do this for social/business connections, as much as the actual education.

The womynists, IE feminists, want to frick up this equation. it is as immutable as time itself.

In the immortal words of Reba McEntire, "Just be nice to the gentlemen, Fancy, and they'll be nice to you."

No truer words have been sung. Progressive feminism is just plain old man-hating started by women who were never flirted with in their prime. Any decent woman who wants a decent man will have them lining up at her door.

Pretty much everything built around us to include buildings, roads, airplanes, businesses, financial systems, the church, etc. has been done so on the backs of men. I am incredibly grateful for my husband, my son, my dad, grandfathers, and uncles who have all protected me and worked to give me a wonderful life. There, I said it.

No kidding. While I acknowledge it's tougher to buy in 2026 than it was 10 years ago, we've also been on the rough end of the real estate roller coaster. We're one of the lucky ones with a 2.875% rate now, but we also had to sell a home in late 2006 due to a work move. We carried two mortgages (at 7% and 6.25% respectively) for nearly a year. That's also two electric bills, two water bills, keeping up the yard, etc. Fun times.

I cannot explain the stress of having a home you can't unload do to a glut of availability. So maybe prices are higher now, but you know you'll be able to sell it in a reasonable time frame if you need to. Plus, as you said, the bubble will burst. They always do.

For those of you who were young during the 2008 financial crisis and weren't really paying attention, please go watch The Big Short.

So what you’re saying is that people should go to college, work their arse off, earn an above average income, save $110k (20%) for a down payment for a neighborhood and house they don’t want. Sounds like the American dream to me

A $550k home is not the American dream. The "American dream" is that we live in the greatest country on earth with a monetary system that allows you to make as much money as you can figure out how to earn. Hard work and perseverance pays off all day every day.

There are no free lunches, so just make a plan, change your approach, and you will be fine. If you make a crappy salary in this country, that's on you.

$650k for about 3000 square foot.

You do realize homes are largely priced per square foot? 3000 LA is a lot of space.

quote:

what most would consider a middle of the road home

That's hardly a middle of the road home size in most places.
quote:

You do t need two bedrooms, but a 750sq foot one bedroom is going to run you somewhere around. $1700.

Cool. You've now saved yourself $800/month. In three years, that's easily the down payment on a house.

Are you an accountant?
