This looks a million times better than that first link! The decor is also so much better, and the pictures in general are just warmer. I love that it shows a fenced backyard, the outdoor grill, the master closet, etc. Much better set of pics. Good luck to y'all!
Ah, okay. Post us a link when it's up, and good luck to you! It's a beautiful home with great curb appeal and a sought after location.

This is something I wonder daily. How do you know when you have a good number? It seems like we're on the right track, but who knows.
I use this retirement calculator from Nerd Wallet because I like the visual of the "what you'll have vs. what you'll need" intersection on the chart. If you click on the advanced details tab, you can adjust for average returns, inflation, etc. Fun to play around with anyway.

Not sure if the pics in the link are the new ones or not, but I would recommend a few things just based off of those.
1.) Remove the master bedroom picture that has the house next door through the window. It makes it look 5 feet from your bedroom window.
2.) I would personally yank the two sago palms flanking the brick steps and just load those little beds with pansies or just a few easy bushes (like Drift roses). The palms are very 1997, if that makes sense. Then take a new pic and sub it in.
ETA...Now I'm completely confused. On Google earth, the palms are gone but the steps are white? Also, in the listing photos, it looks like there is no fenced in yard at all, which is a no-go for people with a dog or kids. Did y'all remove the fence? The side pics of the house are some of the prettiest views, in my opinion. Not sure why that was left off of the listing photos. Also, the lake next door is very pretty. It seems like that should be included.

I think the kids with high gpas and high test scores get first pick, regardless of race/gender. Gotta pump up the fake numbers lol.
I'm a huge LSU fan and two-time graduate, so I clearly want my school to thrive, but they do deserve to be clowned for the false advertising of class scores.

I have high hopes for when it opens. This was needed when Woman's was built, but better late than never. More options to scoot around this town are always a good thing, so bravo to BR for making some progress.

Hilarious. It's clearly up to them if they choose to be a test-optional institution, but you can't advertise "statistics" that are just made up. It's a bad look.
We have a 48" with this exact set-up and it's definitely a work horse. I will say we use the "baby oven" the most because it heats up so fast and will fit a 9x13" casserole. I love having double ovens, and we have them both going several times per month. Invaluable when hosting a large group for dinner. It came with the house though, so we lucked out there.

They are dealing with a pool of kids who have gpas and test scores and another pool of kids who only have gpas. How do they pick who is in and who is out? What is the priority rank?
I'm going to assume the kids who have the highest test scores with sufficiently high gpas get first pick, as long as the racial allotments are correct.
LSU makes a huge deal about the average ACT scores of their incoming classes, so it must be based on something, even if it's an average of an undisclosed number of tests. Might be like 25 people lol
I've been visiting friends/family in Austin for my entire life. The city has evolved, for sure, but it's always fun for a long weekend, and you will never run out of things to do.

Because modern feminism told women that the only value was outside of the home to chase a career and that family, being a mom, was not worth it.
100%. I have worked full time, part time, and not at all since having children. When I was just staying home with babies, some women were actually mean about it. Like somehow I was throwing away my education to be a "housewife" and completely ignoring the fact that I was just choosing motherhood for a while.
quote:
I'd hope that's not true, and vice versa.
I don't mean that desiring respect is wrong, but requiring that which hasn't been earned is silly. There has to be some kind of criteria in place, not just that I'm a woman. Yay me, I was born. You had better respect me!
quote:
I taught elementary school for a while and got a concussion when a kid headbutted me. Does that meet your standard of risk required for me to be deserving of respect? This is ridiculous
Do you think being an elementary school teacher is as physically demanding as the jobs I listed for you? Please share the school system so others know not to send their kids there.
You can say it's ridiculous, but it's not even debatable. Men choose tons of jobs that women (as a collective) would never do.
quote:
It seems that because men are physically stronger, they get more respect. But I'm open to the possibility that I haven't considered everything.
I'm painting with a broad brush here, but anyway... What men "respect" and what women "respect" are vastly different things, therefore you're not going to get sweeping adoration from men as a gender because we don't do anything the same. Not to mention, men overwhelmingly choose to do hard jobs that the vast majority of women would never do.
Have you ever seen a woman up on a roof tacking on shingles? How about a woman on a lawn care crew? Pouring concrete? On a bucket truck working on power lines? I would bet lots of money that our local chem plants are staffed with majority males. How about the police? Firefighters? Oil rigs? Still dudes.
Women overwhelmingly still choose relational jobs like teacher, nurse, counselor, something in the beauty industry, etc.
Men and women are just different, and it will always be that way. We are meant to complement each other, not be in direct opposition. Looking for "respect" from men as a whole is just silly. The goal is to peacefully coexist and support each other. And honestly, a man going out to work every day to support his wife and children seems pretty darned respectful to me. Not sure what else you're looking for.

even the ones with masters brag about barely getting into grad school. its quite comical.
Grades in college are much more of a reflection of self-control and/or choosing to do well in school. The people you mentioned probably just had a bunch of fun in undergrad so that's not a measure of raw intelligence. Some of the most successful people I know were C students.
quote:
I know this won’t be well-received but our social, economic, and institutional systems are organized around male comfort, credibility, and success.
Eh, I would say that men, as a whole, work harder jobs than women by orders of magnitude. Women aren't as "valued" in economic systems because, by and large, we don't participate in a fraction of the work force.

The question is why all the 130+ IQs weren't in gifted.
Private schools don't have gifted classes. They will separate students by ability, to some extent, but it's not remotely the same as GT programs in public schools with IEP's and such.

This is one of my most vivid memories from elementary school. I can remember where I was sitting in the room, the smell, the name of the ed. psychologist, etc. Plus, the red and white tiles, specifically, are seared into my brain for some reason. I couldn't have been older than 6, which makes it stranger. I was later moved into the gifted program, for what it's worth.

The other issue is the "featues" come with software glitches, cheaper parts and lower reliability. I have a freezer that is 43 years old, moved 4 times and just works. I want stuff like that.
Precisely why we coughed up the money for a Speed Queen washer when our unnecessarily hi-tech one went out. I wanted to take it outside and beat it with a bat a la "Office Space" style. Our dryer is on notice...

I completely agree with this, yet I realize some of this may have to do with age, hormones, medication, etc. When I was younger, I woke up starving. As in, if I didn't eat within in 30 minutes I would feel ill.
Now, I don't need it at all. In fact, if I eat breakfast or not, I'm still hungry at lunch, so I just started skipping breakfast. I actually feel better not eating before a workout. I'll be one of these old people who just eats dinner lol.

This is where the scam part of it comes in. I believe they intentionally comped yours with cars of a higher trim level so they could use some mysterious metric to value down your specific car.
You are correct to run the report with the cars closest to your exact model. You may need to get mouthy with them and use words like "predatory" to get a meeting of the minds. The entire point is to give you money to go buy the exact same thing you had.
