Tennessee should be thankful Texas is there to absorb some of the glut of people.

I drove US 64 from Chattanooga to Memphis Sunday, great state.

Agree, that's I encourage everyone wanting to relocate to move to Tennessee. Best state by far.

No state income tax with better roads is nice.

Dallas is too damn far from speck fishing, though.

Texas has a budget surplus this year.

I laugh every time someone wants to make fun of taxes in Texas.

When you add up what we get for our cost of living versus Louisiana is not even close.

Great schools
Lower sales tax
No income tax
Lower insurance rates

I gladly pay my property tax annually.

Texas has a cap of 10 percent increase per year for a homestead.

That will be lowered to 5 if that bill Dan Patrick wants gets out of committee in state house. Plus in same bill there is a rider about state providing more money for ISDs as offset.

This is true, but when the assessment district tells you that your house has increased in value 40% in a single year, they're clearly messaging what will happen to the value of your home over the next 3-4 years.

I heard anecdotally that Fort Bend county is the cause of most of the complaints to the Comptroller re: property taxes in the entire state.

I'm never owning property in Fort Bend ever again.

I’d rather have more income tax than property tax. You shouldn’t have to kee paying taxes on something you bought. Pay one time and that’s it.

Go to a consumption tax. Pay taxes when you spend money. Reward savers

Why?

Property taxes are by far the least detrimental to the flow of commerce. Income taxes and sales taxes stifle economic forces so much more than property taxes.

Property tax is super high where I live, but great schools, parks, roads, etc.. 6% income tax in Louisiana would be higher than the property tax, and I'd still be paying property tax on top of that with higher insurance rates.

Prop 13. We're better for it too.

They've made repeated attempts to do away with it and it always fails.

Ain’t that the truth. They tax the hell out of the working class if you’re in one of the metro areas. I’m seeking an exit strategy to get out of the Houston metro. I want Deep ETX.

Residents of Dallas had an average property tax bill of $2,851 in 2016 and that jumped to $4,671 in 2021

average tax rate in Dallas is 2%, with an average home value of $233k, they pay $4,671 on average
average tax rate in EBR is .72% with an average home value of $201k, we pay $1,449 on average.

Sure would be nice if i didn't have to drop $13k every year to send my 2 kids to a decent school in EBR.
Sure would be nice if i didn't live in a place with a murder rate on par with mexican cartels, and idiots closing down streets to drag race every weekend.
sure would be nice if BREC wasn't the shittiest parks and rec department around.
