CDC needs to get the job done, even with staffing shortages, when it comes to food safety. Tell the chain of command that the shortage is threatening the integrity of the operations and that you consider it an emergency.
Somebody in the CDC could move some people or money around. No way the management should have allowed a unit to be cut from 11 to 3. That is mismanagement within the CDC.

How many people on staff are needed to execute a simple mission such as testing Taylor Farms lettuce sample for this microbe?
Maybe only a few, but Taylor Farms is only one of hundreds of thousands of companies under FDA oversight.

Yes, but it holds an 18% market share of lettuce and bagged salad. When added to the next five largest producers, they control an overwhelming share of the U.S. market.
I get that it’s not just lettuce and salad that we’re worried about when it comes to produce, but when it comes to mitigating the effects of widespread outbreaks, it would make sense to focus on the largest producers.

This is patently false. The CDC didn't cut those roles.
Get the job done despite the staffing shortage. That is the standard. No excuses. Get the job done.
Let the chain of command know that there is an emergency-level staffing shortage but get the job done in the meantime, even if you have to sleep at the office. CDC is an agency that cannot fail.
Stop with the excuses and get the job done or Quit.

You think they don't know what they cut?

Hell yeah dude. Cut a bunch of people from a single office, tell the remainder to deal with the extra workload or quit. That’ll definitely get the job done.

So, you're either an idiot or an a-hole. Hope you're no one's manager/supervisor.

I just did some googling
There is no evidence to your assertion that “funding cuts” allowed the parasite into America
In fact, there have been dozens of outbreaks in the past, as recently as 2019

Screw all of that extra work. I much rather pay 3 times that for some machine to do the work for me and put in a plastic box/bag. Plus, it already says triple washed right there on the container, so you know it's clean.

Seriously is there a person in the US who didn’t read the Taco Bell causes Explosive Diarrhea headline and just say to themselves “Well No shite!” and stop reading. it’s literally the running joke about Taco Bell.

Maybe because I never made such an assertion.
Does someone help you tie your shoes in the morning?

Doge had no authority to fire anyone. They just made recommendations.

Wendy’s Twitter should put out a post that says “Okay, we admit it, that prank went a little too far”

That were rubber stamped by the Trump admin. There was no restraint placed upon them.

You're always better off just buying a head of lettuce, washing it and cutting it up yourself.
But does “washing/rinsing” a head of lettuce really do anything for this? I kind of doubt it beyond lowering total exposure.

You peel off the outer leaves where the parasite typically is and wash. Significantly reduces risk (not eating the outer peel is why citrus fruits are safe).
