This should be on the ballot when we vote for governor. Largest possible turnout to get a true representation of the electorate

Email Chauna, she is very eager to come back with A witty comment

How long does JBE have for this certification?
Odds that he sits on it long enough so that it doesn't go on the ballot until AFTER this fall's elections?
I assume he could just pressure legislators to vote against it as a bargaining chip for some pet project in their district

The attempt When BR quickly incorporated the businesses south of I10 starting around Bluebonnet did they also incorporate the neighborhoods south towards Burbank and Ms River? If so did they draw it in a way to keep status quo of BR’s racial politic?
If you are talking about Preserve at Harveston, Springlake, and Fairhill subdivisions on Bluebonnet, I believe those are in the proposed St George. They are on the border so subdivisions north of that (Gardere) are out of proposed SG.

He can try but this will end up biting them in the arse.
They can either let this go to a vote or they can block it through frickery and guarantee both a pissed off electorate and a bunch of ads coming in about how JBE and the legislature wants to force kids to stay in failing schools.

I thought the legislature is ultimately the final say in creating a new school district
Posted on 2/25/19 at 2:31 pm to upgrayedd
The legislature will decide, but it would be unprecedented for them not to grant a request for a school system to a city
Posted on 2/25/19 at 2:32 pm to upgrayedd
This is for the city. A school district would need a constitutional amendment passed by the legislature, A vote by SG, a vote by EBRP, and a vote by the entire state.
Posted on 2/25/19 at 2:33 pm to upgrayedd
Having that ability doesn’t make it any less a problem for them to deny it.
The entire reason St George is forming is because the legislature told the ISD they needed a city to get approval.
Turning down the city for approval will bite a number of legislators and JBE in the arse if they try it.

Yes, I don't think the legislature has any say on the city incorporation petition.

i thought the whole deal with incorporating a city, is so that you don't have to involve the rest of the state in a vote. Isn't that how it worked with Zachary and Central?

12,996 signatures needed to equal 25%
17,102 signatures submitted
14,385 signatures certifed (1369 over minimum)
2517 signatures rejected

All CAs passed by the legislature require a statewide vote. That’s just the process

People moved out of St. George during the span of collecting signatures? Or maybe people renting signing up?
Seems like a lot of rejections.

Maybe I should move to St George.
I’ll gladly sell you my home for 50% more than it’s ZEstimate.
A lot of Magas are going to shell out way more money than they need to for homes if this goes through. And Five years from now they will be wondering WTF happened to the White-topia they thought they were getting.
