All CAs passed by the legislature require a statewide vote. That’s just the process
The fact that you need a CA to authorize a local school district, tells us exactly why we need to blow up the constitution.

I've seen a lot of places
I've been around the world
I've been seen pretty faces
Been with some beautiful girls
After all I've witnessed
One thing still amazes me
Just like a miracle, you have to see to believe
God blessed St George with His own hand
Brought down angels from the promised land
Gave 'em a place where they could dance
If you want to see heaven, brother, here's you chance
I've been sent to spread the message
God blessed St George.

Yeah it is pretty high. I helped with the petitions, and the total seemed higher to me also. I’m thinking some of the rejects got submitted too.

You are 100% correct, but they would never admit even an ounce of responsibility.

I’m a proponent of SG and live in the area. Still very much an uphill battle for the school district. To pass a CA through the legislature you need 2/3rds in the house and senate. That’s not an easy task. Then you have the votes and TBR TL will do everything they can to prevent that from passing

We live in the city limits but I still hope this happens.
The ultimate goal IMO is to keep EBR parish (as a whole) viable for long enough for it to reinvent itself.
A city with decent government and (potentially) another decent school district in EBR goes a long way towards that.

That noise you hear is Baton Rouge settling into a deeper ring of hell.

Yep. This is all about avoiding people of darker skin color. That’s all this is about. Nothing about not having a public school in the SE of BR. Nothing about being told they can’t have a school unless they have a city. Nope. Just people who don’t like people with darker skin

I’ll gladly sell you my home for 50% more than it’s ZEstimate.
Hell I've been in my SG home for 3.5 years now and it's already gone up about 10% since buying it. If it starts creeping to 30% i'd sell in a heartbeat and move into the city of Baton Rouge.

Yeah pretty sad people think this is what it's about. The school system is why families are fleeing EBR. It's been that way for years and this is just another area trying to create something new while EBR blows itself up with terrible representatives. This is the beginning of the end for a sustainable EBR.

As an aside, CATS might want to start advertising about 75% of their fleet for sale when we don’t have to pay for that boondoggle anymore.
You don't pay for it now.
Uninformed voter base still can't grasp this.

Don’t you love how hard the push back and reaction to St George has been? You know you’re doing what’s right and best for you when people not involved in the process demonize and react so strongly to it.

I know. Gordon and Dudley are paying for it

Expect all sorts of attempts at pulling rugs over the next few weeks. The city is about to get tense.

The school system was destroyed by the desegregation order when everyone who could fled the system. It created a culture where private school was considered the only viable option. It isn't an an administration issue, it isn't a teacher issue. It is a federal government intrusion issue.
Nothing will improve EBR schools until there is a demographic change in the population of those schools. If all the private schools shut down next year, and all the private school students moved into their schools next year you would see marked improvement.

They might be able to get it out of the legislature. They might even be able to get enough people statewide to believe that the people of St George shall choose their own destiny.
But I see ZERO percent change it passes in EBR. It will pass in St. George but no chance it passes in the larger parish vote.

This is awesome. Since it’s reached the next step I expect Baton Rouge to pay people to post on TD to create anti-St George sentiment here and change narratives.

It will be tough no doubt but you gotta think central, Zachary, and baker will vote for it since they were in the same situation. The vote will ride on BR proper
Posted on 2/25/19 at 3:17 pm to TigersSEC2010
This makes me really happy.
The folks in charge of BR need to understand that you can’t just let a city collapse before you realize it’s too late and something should be done.
