re: Brian Kelly Files Suit Against LSU

Governor meddling caused this mess. Another huge black eye for Louisiana and LSU.
re: At what point do coaches back away from LSU’s job opening?
Posted by Mudminnow on 11/11/25 at 7:32 am to Byrdybyrd05
I think they already are backing away. Coaches like to have a lot of control of football program. Kelly was not allowed to fire offensive line coach when it was clear was a buge problem.
Governor controls nearly everything in Academics and Athletics. Thats a huge red flag to coaches.
Now LSU is so disorganized they wont pay Kellys buyout in full with no paperwork. Now being sued.

Kelly wanted to fire Sloan and Davis. LSU administration refused to allow Davis to be fired.
The governor has enormous amount of influence on academics and athletics.
Administration would not allow Kelly to do his job.

Yes, Davis is still on staff and Woodward is gone. The governor has immense control over the university and athletics.
Kelly wanted to fire Davis last year and two weeks ago. Administration refused to fire Davis, Kelly persisted so he was then fired.
University hires seem like merely puppets for the governor. Whatever governor wants he gets.

Kelly has been wanting to fire him last year and 2 weeks ago. Was told absolutely not so he was fired.
This administration and governor has more to blame than Kelly. When the governor has so much control.
Only Saban will have enough leverage to say my way or the highway. If governor wants to meddle the fans and media will quickly turn on him.

The governor has enormous say in the program and university.
Kelly wanted to fire him last year and 2 weeks ago but was told no. LSU administration was adamant on keeping Davis.

It truly is a national embarassment for LSU where the governor has so much control of the university and athletic programs yet Louisiana ranks last or next to last in so many categories.

Our only hope is Saban to agree to be coach. You know he is not going to put up with anyone meddling in the program. Someone of his stature may actually keep the governor from controlling everything from university to athletics.
With Landry having such a heavy hand now, it will be difficult to attract a top flight coach.

When governor has nearly complete control of a university academics to athletics its not good.
This being talked about across the country is not a good thing for Louisiana or LSU.
Louisiana ranks last or dead last in so many things but governor is on every show that will give him a microphone. Giving the image he has nothing else to work on.
Then you have optics of his inner doings of having Tate ousted.

Hands are all over this and the negative media attention is warranted. All Louisiana problems and ranking last in so many categories is being brought up. Yep, governor doesnt care about the state, his main priority is LSU football coach.
Not a good look for LSU and Louisiana!

Woody needed to fire sloan. Very uneasy he is still on staff at this time.
re: Seriously does anyone on this board still want Kelly as the coach at LSU?
Posted by Mudminnow on 10/20/25 at 8:34 am to BowDownToLSU
I supported him but he doesnt want to hire the best coordinators at each position. Look at the defense in years past hiring for on the job training. Polian was horrible at ND in special teams.
Sloan has no business being OC yet retained for 2 years.
I get the impression he has such a high opinion of his coaching that he thinks can slack off at several coaching positions.

Kelly is too tied to Sloan. Chased Denbrock away because wanted to make Sloan co-OC.
Kelly doesnt have the want to win. Always waits for complete disaster before making changes.

That Alex Atkins guy too. Hell, everyone associated w/ the offense.
He's the one shaking his head in the offensive coordinator booth. His hands are tied.

I kinda feel sorry for BK- he had a Heisman QB but a terrible Defense that kept him out of contention, and now that it seems he's got the D fixed, he has a great pocket QB but the OL is going to be what keeps him from a championship.
He makes $10M/yr to make those hires. But it seems like the thought process is well I can sacrifice here and there to make up for it as Louisiana talent is so good. Look at special teams hire. Notre Dame fans were nearly throwing a parade when he left. But Kelly wanted to sacrifice that.
Need to have a killer instinct in all coaching hires, dont settle like they did for OC when Denbrock left.

Sometime after the game, the ruling was changed to fighting. UH knew about it and did not inform Haulcy as he was going to the portal.
UH informed Clemson of this. Haulcy had no idea.

purely political motivated hire! Sad what has happened to LSU.

I believe it! Prices on everything are still going up. In the past, many employers gave raises and bonuses to compensate for cost of living increase. Now not so much as businesses have less profit margin or struggling. Now cant keep pace with rise in homeowners insurance and car insurance. Not to mention going to the grocery store. Certainly noticed increase in prices past couple of months.

Hope Kelly and LSU staff is aware of the connections to Oxford the TE has, hope LSU doesnt waste too much time recruiting him and offering NIL. Need to spend that time on people who may want to come to LSU.
