This needs to be reported and documented. In actuality this may be the third time that dog bit someone. But because it was never documented before, each time they claim it was the first time.

The next attack could be vicious or fatal. How would you feel then knowing you could have kept it from happening?

Dog needs to be put down.

No one needs to be sued unless it is proven this dog has attacked before and the owners knew about it.

Seriously, your son is very lucky.

Dog needs to be put down ASAP.

I've seen a lot of should haves about putting the dog down, called animal control, etc.

In fact, you should have called animal control or whatever authority had jurisdiction in the situation, not necessarily to have the dog put down but in order to ascertain if the dog has rabies. It may not be showing marked symptoms but could still have the disease, In the past, they would hold the dog for a period of time to watch for symptoms unless the owners can prove it was properly vaccination.

It probably wont be worth suing considering the family owns a pit, they are therefore trashy and poor.

Glad he is ok, the lab blood is probably the only thing that saved his life.

Yeah, I don't understand why people insist on having these dogs. I have a relative (one that you don't like to claim, but) whose son had a pitbull & he left it at his moms house... Tied up in the back yard. One of my uncles was over there and told them "you need to be careful with that dog especially when your grandkids are over" the response was "that dog is friendly, it wouldn't hurt a fly". My uncle walked near it and the dog went insane, it wanted to go after him. They claimed "it was his fault, he provoked the dog".

Several weeks later there was someone over there visiting and the dog ended up biting that person. Look, I have a dog thats half dachshund and half chihuahua and that little sucka is protective. He will let me do anything to him, but when someone comes over he stays by me and growls and sometimes he will go after people's feet. If he was a pitbull he would be dangerous... Well, if he goes after someone, if they turn around and go towards him he runs away, but if he goes at someone's feet.. in that case if he was a pitbull, but these dogs are just not good to have around kids.

At least you got it on record. If it happens again and the authorities are notified, that dog is toast.

Hate to hear this. Glad your son is ok and it wasn't worse. Were you with him when it happened? Did the dog owner have to pull the dog away to prevent further biting?

That sucks, man.

Hope he recovers well.

When he gets a bit older, get him some pocket pepper spray.

Speaking from experience, it's because authorities won't do shite if it's the first time.

i was not with him, he was at the end of our circle of park, he was maybe not even 50ft down the street in front of us. dog nipped then backed off i think, juvenile went back with dog. not very clear on the exact events of what happened, everything i know was coming from my son's version of events.

It's funny how every mutt that bites now is a "pitbull"...

In this case, we can confirm that the dog is part pit bull because the attack happened while camping at a state park.

I assume you're replying to someone else. My concern was health related, not lawsuit related.
