So let me get this straight. You didn't see it happen. You don't know the circumstances. You're taking a 4 year old's word as fact. You're not even sure what kind of dog bit your kid.
All you know is a dog nipped at your kid but you don't know how, or why? I'm lost.
I don't get it. Accidents happen sometimes. Kids are pretty tough and this will only scar him for life if you keep on being weird about it.
What's going to happen if you find out that it was not even a pit? Are you going to be less upset?
The kid was obviously bit, since he was bleeding. Even for a young kid, a nip shouldn't do that. The dog and owners are in the wrong, especially since a dog with leash aggression was being handled by a child.
I'm in favor of DNA testing for any dog that bites, especially fatal bites. The tests are far from perfect, and could probably be improved. But there are tons of mutts that have very similar pit features.
But I always laugh when I hear about the 100 pound pitbull that attacks. That's way too big to be a pit. If you have an actual pit that's 100+ pounds and not morbidly obese, that's an inbred freak that's probably intentional breed for bad reasons.
Technically, dog fighters originally bred their dogs to be kind to all humans. You don't want to try to break up a fight, and have the dog bite you. It's why the breeds can have animal aggression issues. So when I hear about pits that have human aggression issues, I do look at the owner, and wonder what they did or didn't do to make them mean.

First of all, Boulder is not Frisco

Doesn't seem to be difficult to understand. Kid is 4 - he didn't provoke the dog which makes the dog dangerous, IMO. Unprovoked attack on small child for what he (the dog) probably perceived as invasion of his territory.

All put owners need to understand that if their dogs bite someone they will go to jail and lose everything they have.....send a message to these POS owners.

Close enough.
Honkeys everywhere.
Honkeys everywhere.

If you have never seen a purebred pitbull, those animals are fricking scary looking.
They are built like tanks. They should be banned.
Scruffy's neighbor is a dumb a-hole. They aren't meant to be guard dogs. You want a guard dog, get a breed that was bred for it, like a Chow or German Shepard.

But nobody knows what happened. He could have gotten off his bike and ran up to the dog, who knows. All we know is his daddy is butt hurt over an accident, and he's positive it was a pit bull that bit his kid even though he's not actually sure what kind of dog it was.
"My kid got nipped by a dog and bled a little bit" doesn't make for a good thread title.

My point was simply that you won't much find much trash or riff raff in Boulder. You will find what most people would consider a lot of pit bulls. Those pit bulls aren't causing issues. Is that related to the owners being educated, middle to upper class professionals who know how to socialize an animal? I am inclined to believe so

There's a lot of dumb in here.
It seems that any mutt that bites someone is a pit. Let's not mention the other breeds mixed in. I assume it's less the breed, and more the fact that the dogs that do these attacks are running around without a leash.
And I can't help but laugh at these posters that say they would shoot the dog on sight. 90% of you guys don't have the sack to do that, and probably don't even own a gun.

fully expect there to be that guy in an OT thread but you're taking it a bit too far. pretty positive you have no kids of your own.

I don't think it works that way

I did read, I'm referring to the majority of these threads that are posted.

ah, so you are generalizing yourself while complaining about generalizations of pits. got it.

Yep, you nailed it. Congrats.

I don't have kids but I imagine I wouldn't be happy about a dog biting my kid unless the kid climbed the fence to the dog's back yard.
Lots of dogs out there that won't bite just b/c they're approached by a child (if that's what happened)

You're acting like your kid suffered some horrible tragedy at the hands of some vicious animal when the rality is you have no idea what happened. Your'e just lucky enough to have conformation bias in the OT.
Did someone come running to your aid every time you had a bo bo when you were kid? Better yet, did your parents believe a word that came out of your mouth when you were 4? Every 4 year old I've ever met in my life will lie their arse off when they do something stupid and get busted for it.
Like it or not, your story doesn't hold up very well. Sucks your kid got bit but did you even ponder for a second why he was off his bike and around a strangers dog without an adult present? Did it ever cross your mind that maybe, just maybe, you're blowing this way out of proportion?
Posted on 4/4/16 at 11:06 am to Chad504boy
So are you taking them to court?

I bring my dogs to the LSU games. One is a chow-mix. A few years ago a little 3-4 year-old girl ran up to her and put her arms around the dog's neck and hugged her (very suddenly). My dog was on a leash under the tarp at our tailgate.
Nothing happened.

Anyone would kiss arse in that situation.
You need to sue them.
