I bet they're worried it's gonna be put down.

I'd have it put down.

I wonder why all the pitbulls in Boulder don't cause any trouble

Oh, wait a second....

I've got a pitbull and live in Boulder. I've had several people in Boulder tell me they didn't think pits could be so sweet. Mine is registered with the open space voice and sight program, and I take her hiking.

There are actually way more pits in Boulder than you'd expect because of the Denver law. You see plenty at the dog parks, especially the Valmont park.

I'm guessing why Boulder doesn't have pit issues is because the type of owner that exists in Boulder.

And the owners of the dog in the OP's incident better immediately put that dog into training. There's plenty of course available that focus strictly on leash aggression towards walkers, cyclists, and other dogs.

Most common statement made when someone comes in to the ER with an animal-related injury: "That sumbitch never did that before."

state park authority was notified. he then called local pd to make police report. owner supposed to contact me today to have shot records sent my way.

not sure if i should contact animal control of where they live which is not where incident occurred.

Oh come on! It's a fricking dog "nip". You do realize that many times when a dog tries to show affection, it lightly nips and accidentally gets skin.

I'm all against true pit bulls doing their craps. But seriously....a family pet mix that is well kept (shots)..nips a kid on a bike in an unfamiliar territory.
And you've involved all of these agencies and want a report?
Man up and go sit and have a beer with the family and pet the dog and teach your son values....

I don't get it either. A dog with a spiked collar, chain link leash, cropped ears, comes from a kennel called "Bad arse Bullies" or some shite, and is immortalized as a sticker on the back glass of a truck is not a wholesome pet. Nothing about that package says the dog was purchased because of a good disposition.

Worthless animals.

It's past that point. Time to put it down.

Did you see a collar with tags, on the dog?

The tag should show current dates and if the dog is current on vaccinations. It also may include the vet's name.

Yeah, I don't understand why people insist on having these dogs.

I'll tell you my reason..I didn't insist. I started checking out dogs in shelters around New Orleans, and nearly every dog was a pitbull, or had strong pit features. I'm morally opposed to getting a dog from a breeder, so I adopted what was available.

quote:

I have a relative (one that you don't like to claim, but) whose son had a pitbull & he left it at his moms house... Tied up in the back yard.

Your relative is a fricking moron. Idiocracy level dumbass. Leaving a dog in the backyard all day isn't good in its own, unless it's only when people aren't home. It needs to live with the family. But tying it up on a tether all day in the yard is just begging for him to become vicious. I bet it wasn't fixed either. A vast majority of dogs that attack are were treated this way.

quote:

Look, I have a dog thats half dachshund and half chihuahua and that little sucka is protective. He will let me do anything to him, but when someone comes over he stays by me and growls and sometimes he will go after people's feet. If he was a pitbull he would be dangerous...

It would be. But little dogs are rarely trained correctly. Because of their size, these aggressive tendencies aren't corrected early because they are so small and look cute. It's one thing to be protective, but biting should never happen if you do your job as an owner.

It appears you did not see this happen. How far away were y'all from the 4 year old riding a bike? Give me a visual because I wouldn't let me 4 year old out of my sight...especially on a bike in a state park.

You shouldn't let a 5 year old get that far away from you, or out of your sight.

I've taken my kids to the park many of times. I don't play on my phone while my kids play, like the vast majority of parents do. I watch them and i'm usually pretty close to them. And that's two of them. I watch them even more carefully when someone else is around them, and if there was a dog around, especially one that looked like a pit bull, i'd probably leave, or at least always stay inbetween the dog and my children.
I also don't let my almost 5 year old go across the street, where there's a pond for them to go feed some ducks, without me or my wife, and they know that.

I don't expect my children to notice where potential dangers can come from all the time. That's my job, and i can't do it if i'm not watching them.
The day a dog tries to bite one of my young children, is the day i likely get bit and a dog dies when i slam his head on the concrete.

Why must people walk their stupid arse dogs around in public? Especially dogs known to be dangerous and known to bite. This warrants a lawsuit in my opinion. Sue the owners so that them and others stop bringing their nasty arse dogs everywhere. People are bringing them into restaurants and bars now and walk around like they own the fricking place parading the dog like everyone else there should be catering to them and their dog. Most of us don't want to touch your stinking arse nasty shite machine. Go to a fricking dog park and wallow in the dog shite and piss with the rest of the dog owners. I know I'll inevitably get some hate by all the assholes who think this doesn't apply to their dog because they have the cutest little smoochy poochy in the world and everyone loves it but yes, this is for you too. Keep your stupid arse dogs at home people.

It's possible, but I seriously doubt they've put their dog into the situations I've exposed mine. She off-leash trained and regularly goes hiking on popular trails around town. She been in the French Quarter more than most of the posters on this board. She went to several music festivals and parades. I'm also a drummer, and played regularly around her to let her adjust to the noise.

There's an festival in LaRose called T-Bois, that allows Doug's to go off-leash. I took her there at about 8 months. She hung out at the stage, and worked it like an insurance salesmen at a cocktail party. When I did have her on a leash with me, people constantly came up and introduced themselves, since they had already meet Frankie. A few people nicknamed her Miss Congeniality.

What I'm getting at is, if you have any breed of a larger dog, and you intend to bring it out in public or travel with them, you better bust your arse the first year. It's your responsibility, and can be dangerous if you do it wrong.

If you do it correctly, you'll have a well tempered dog that you can enjoy nearly and bring into nearly any situation. It'll make the next decade with your dog a much more enjoyable experience.

I won't say all dogs are good, it's about the owner. I fricking hate Chows. Pits are a victim if their own popularity. They've been breed by some truly shitty people, that breed them for dangerous traits. But it's not the breed itself. If Golden Retrievers were covered by rednecks and hoodrats, we'd be having these same conversations about them.

Pitbull used to be the all-American dog breed. There's a reason the U.S. government used them in World War I propaganda ads.

So let me get this straight. You didn't see it happen. You don't know the circumstances. You're taking a 4 year old's word as fact. You're not even sure what kind of dog bit your kid.

All you know is a dog nipped at your kid but you don't know how, or why? I'm lost.

I don't get it. Accidents happen sometimes. Kids are pretty tough and this will only scar him for life if you keep on being weird about it.

What's going to happen if you find out that it was not even a pit? Are you going to be less upset?

My uncle walked near it and the dog went insane, it wanted to go after him. They claimed "it was his fault, he provoked the dog".

Scruffy has a neighbor who has a boyfriend that breeds pure pitbulls as guard dogs.

If you have never seen a purebred pitbull, those animals are fricking scary looking.

They are built like tanks. They should be banned.

If you keep on being a bitch you're kid is going to grow up needing a safe place.

Wrong. In Frisco a couple weeks ago some douche hipster was walking his pit, dog looked happy as could be then i pass them and he barks and lunges at me. Owner kept him away.

Sweet dogs though.
