Almost 10’ - let me break it down for you:

6’4” kid
High arm slot think 1 or 2 o’clock release
38” arm

6’4” + ~30” (arm lessened due to elbow bend and release not straight over his head.

That combined is 106” or 8’10” or a mere 14” inches from the aforementioned 10 feet and then add 10” for the mound height and low and behold your close to 10’ which is what I said.

Because it used to not matter as much now it does. My sophomore son who’s about 6’4” when he throws off the mound his release point is almost 10 feet in the air. It’s coming down at such an angle that contact is almost guaranteed a grounder on the infield.
