re: Office Barry thread - Significant Flooding Potential
It looks like on IR Barry is getting better organized and strengthening to me. I think this might be a bigger wind problem than projected. BR going to get slammed. I'm thinking it has been awhile since we had a good storm come through to harvest areas going to be a lot of oaks/dead trees falling with the combination of extreme rainfall and 70+ mph gusts. Oaks love falling with a little saturated roots and minor gusts rolling through.

Fun Fact about the New Orleans Pumps operated by S&WBNO:

During Disasters since they didn't bother to turn on pumps and tried to blame Global Warming a few summers back, LANG has taken over the oversight, operations and situational reports for the New Orleans Pumps.

That's right: Louisiana doesn't trust the City or their own Department that is charged with the pump's operation to report their status or operational capacity accurately or operate them properly during a storm event.

Which is why they reign in everyone when a storm hits the gulf.

Sun’s out in Houma

This was only a test of the TD emergency broadcast system. Had there been a real emergency, there would be no internet

Pack up your shite and get out of here

Sometimes it's hard to tell if people are trolling or not with questions like this.

Even if they are, good luck getting to the airport.

I dont live in Baton Rouge or Louisiana and the national media isn't exactly covering it. I'm not trolling I have no clue what's happening. My parents were supposed to fly out tomorrow morning and they aren't tech saavy so I'm trying to deal with switching their flights for them .

Why did they only cancel the morning flights but not the afternoon/evening flights?

Would Lafayette be a better option as an airport based on the storm path or is it in the same position as Baton Rouge?

O no, its much better than that. The stupid bastards still run pumps on a different frequency than the utility provides. So the generator that provides the right juice failed and of course they couldn't just ask Entergy for power because the pumps are so goddamn old they literally cant plug into the grid.

They had to blame something because it never occurred to the city to fix that small problem.
